Realistically & ethically what is "YOUR MAXIMUM" comfortable yardage on cleanly taking deer with the following weapons?
1. Bow - Pull Weight / Recurve or Compound / Arrow & Broadhead 2. Crossbow - Pull Weight / Arrow & Broadhead 3. Muzzleloader - Cal. / Modern or Traditional / Sabot or Ball 4. Shotgun - Ga. / Rifled or Smooth Bore / Slug Type 5. Pistol - Cal. / Bullet Type & Weight 6. Rifle - Cal. / Bullet Type & Weight

1. Bow - Pull Weight / Recurve or Compound / Arrow & Broadhead - 50# , recurve , XX75/feathers/Thunderhead , 20-25 yards .
2. Crossbow - Pull Weight / Arrow & Broadhead - 180# , XX75/vanes/Thunderhead , 30-40 yards with scope .
3. Muzzleloader - Cal. / Modern or Traditional / Sabot or Ball - .54 , modern , both , 100 yards with scope .
4. Shotgun - Ga. / Rifled or Smooth Bore / Slug Type - 20 , smooth , Foster , 75 yards w/ FO sights .
5. Pistol - Cal. / Bullet Type & Weight - N/A
6. Rifle - Cal. / Bullet Type & Weight - .22 , Remington Golden bullet , 100 yards with scope .

1. Compound @ 70#, I practice out to 60 yards but will not take a shot over 35 and have not taken a shot over 30.
2. N/A
3. .50 caliber smokeless w/ sabot, 50 yards offhand, 150 yards w/ a good rest
4. I no longer hunt with a shotgun but when I did my limit was about 50 yards offhand, 100 w/ a rest.
5. .41 mag 240 gr. Platinum Tip, 25 yards offhand, 50 yards w/ a rest
6. .270 WSM 140 gr. Ballistic Tip, 75 yards offhand, 200 w/ a rest

I won't shoot at any animal over 30 yards with ANY kind of archery gear.
My limits are about 70 yards with shotgun AND M/L.
I may have to re-adjust my firearm limits..........seems the older I get the less effective my eyesight is!!!!!!!

Archery---Compound 70# pull weight/65% let off---2216 aluminum arrows with Muzzy 4 blade 100 grain broadheads---limit 25 yards comfortable under most conditions, 30 yards maximum under perfect conditions.
Crossbow---don't own one, but nothing against them
Muzzleloader---Knight 50 caliber scoped with adjustable 4 to 9X scope with see under mounts---limit 150 yards under perfect conditions---100 yards under most conditions
Shotgun---Remington 870 12 ga. with a Mossberg riffled barrel shooting Winchester Partition Gold saboted slugs---4 power scope---limit 75 yards under most conditions---125 yards under perfect conditions
Pistol---don't have one
Rifle---don't have one (other than a .22)

When I could pull a bow back I shot a 72# XI Legacy with 29 ¼” swaged 2413s and Zwickey Eskimos.
35 yards at a non-alert good angled deer
2. Crossbow - Pull Weight / Arrow & Broadhead
I have two crossbows.
2001 Excalibur Exomag boosted to 210#. I shoot Gold Tip Laser IIs with a Wasp SST Hammer (fixed blade) at 100 grains.
2005 TenPoint QX4 at 185# shooting the Pro-Elite carbons with a Wasp SST Hammer (fixed blade) at 100 grains.
40 yards at a non-alert good angled deer
3. Muzzleloader - Cal. / Modern or Traditional / Sabot or Ball
TC Omega laminated thumbhole stock with a 2 ½ to 5 variable scope. Shooting100 grains of 777 and the Hornady SST
125 yards from a rest at a non-alert good angled deer. 75 with no rest
4. Shotgun - Ga. / Rifled or Smooth Bore / Slug Type
Remington 870 with a fully rifled barrel and cantilever mounted fixed 4 power scope. I shoot Lightfields.

Hoyt Vortec - 70# / Compound / Gold Tip 5575 tipped with 100 grain Thunderheads
My max would be 40 yards at a calm and broadside deer. I would also have to have good light to verify no small twigs or branches in the way. I practice out to 60 like Mbogo and absolutely smoked a doe at 30 yards last year. She was down in 40 yards.
No gun hunting for me.
