Well I got drawn for gun on the date close to Thanksgiving. Struck out on bow. I think a guy could just show up for the bow down there. Last time I was there they told us they didn't turn one bowhunter away who showed up for the extra spots. That is at Big Oaks.

duff,
they have an open bow hunt the first part of October that they dont list in the hunt books. i went to it a couple years ago. its a two day hunt. call them and ask if you are interested.
I called the deer hotline today and the guy said the results were mailed out yesterday so if you got drawn it should arrive in the next couple of days. he also said you could call the deer hotline starting monday and he'd have the list there and could tell you if you got drawn. h.h.

I just got it today, fast mail service  . Thanks, I saw that about the lotory draw bow hunt when I was reading the rules. For a guy from the Tipton Till area it is a treat to go down there and hunt. |

Successful for both bow and gun at Big Oaks.
Duff, you need to call me if you want to do the gun hunt. I also need to fill you in on the Canada waterfowl hunt. We had a great week shooting lots of ducks, cranes, snows, specks and canadas. Thursday evening, our last hunt I shot a banded pintail. We hunted five days (usually three hours in the morning and three in the evening) and killed a total of 260 birds. One evening we killed 71 snows.

Crane hasn't been hunted that hard the last 4 or 5 years so that should be real good. The 8th hunt at Muscatatuk will be a tough hunt. The deer are usually in the swamps by then.. |

I didn't see any specific instructions about youths hunting at Crane on my paperwork or at their website other than the age requirements. I'm assuming my 17 year old son can hunt by himself?

I got both bow and ML at Muscatatuck again and again it's towards the end, but I'm not complaining!

I got drawn for ML on the 16th at Muscatatuck. Everytime I've been drawn, it has been in the last 4 days of the hunt. Do you suppose the draw is truly random. I know guys who get opening weekend or close to it nearly every year. Some of these same guys end up not even going. I've never failed to take a deer from there, but it sure would be nice to get in there opening day just once.
