Do we have any coin collectors on here? I have some I'd like to take to a buyer and would like to know a rough value so I don't get ripped off. I've got some sets from the early 70's, lots of old dollars and half dollars, and a 1921 morgan silver dollar. Most of them look uncirculated and are sealed.

My Oldest Brother has a bunch of coins, Some are even from different countries. We took them to a Coin collector and the only coin worth anything was a Silver Dollar that was worth maybe $ 5.00 . About 30 people were there and only one person had coins that were worth anything. And he pulled them off to the side. I did find out that a 1965 Quarter was only worth a Quarter unless it had a different letter or number.

Typically paper money isn't worth more than face value. All silver coins are worth more, mercury dimes are worth around a buck each I think. Morgan dollars are going around $25 up to $300 depending on year and condition on ebay. That's sold price not listed price.

I have about 25 years of proof sets. Everything i read says brake them open and just spend it?? I don't know much about coins but I can tell you baseball cards have done the same thing. Really good players from the '80s aren't worth much. It's sad, I used to spend hours organizing my cards and making sure they were safe I'm not saying I'm sad that I put all that work in and they aren't worth anything it's sad that no one finds any worth in them anymore.

I know what you mean! My wife’s extensive Beanie Baby collection was worthless so we sent two big totes full to an orphanage in Africa

I've got some sets from the early 70's, lots of old dollars and half dollars, and a 1921 morgan silver dollar. Most of them look uncirculated and are sealed. Scrub your Morgan might have some good value, definitely have a good deal look at it. On the other coins here is something to look for. On dollar, half's, quarters and dime's coins 1965-1970 are 40% silver, years 1964 and under 90% silver any thing 1971 and up are face value unless they are proofs. As far as nickles the only ones that have silver are the war nickles , they were the early 1940's they are about 35% silver and have the mint mark above Monticello on the reverse side So check your date's for the silver content, you might get more money that way. Silver is running around 30 $ an ounce spot price, it takes around $1.40 face value to have an ounce. Good luck !

I do know one thing. Never try to clean them. Have seen them say that on TV. I know that. I found a civil war era penny when I was a kid. I tried cleaning it with toothpaste and a brush.
