Headed out to finish the early goose season. No teal on the ponds so, we figured we may as well try the geese.
They sure move out fast. Been seeing them all week but, the last two days have been very slim on sightings.

 Plenty of ducks, but only 1 group of 6 teal, they came through before sunrise. I walked to a different pond and bumped a bunch of other ducks at sunrise, no teal that I could see in that bunch. No shots yet. |

We've watched a couple hundred geese come off the roost but, they are 3/4 mile away going away from us.

We got three more geese. I shot the lead one and it landed right next to my blind! Lol!
Total of 13 with 4 bands. Pretty stoked about getting my first band on my lanyard.

Congrats Genesis, you had a great morning! I only have 1 band after 30 years of hunting. Then again, maybe that speaks to my shooting skills too!

Guys with lots of bands are hunting locals that all get round up and banned every year or two. About 20 yrs ago I was on Hudson Lake for early teal and geese. 3 of us knocked down 9 geese. All wearing bands that were put on them earlier that summer about 8 miles away from where we shot them. It was pretty incredible. Good job guys. I know I still have some goose hunts left but dang it is few and far between |

It’s been maybe 15 - 20 or so years ago, and this is my best memory of it, but my dad was with me when he shot a Drake mallard with a band. He’s 82 now, hunting days are done. At any rate, I convinced him to get it mounted with the band. When he called it in, they said it was 19 years ago (I think) when it was banded. Can’t remember where, but I wanna say Minnesota.

That is worthy of a mount. I never killed any banded ducks but I have a goose band from Ontario and 1 from north side of v Horricon marsh. I would have to find the certificates to remember how long they were banded. None nearly as old as that one. Imagine all the decoys that bird had seen |

Years ago after dad died i hunted with someone that was pretty popular making videos from here. We got 27 bands in 3 days. They were banded in a local park and we were hunting right across the street. They came in so low you could pick them out in the air. We never even sent in the numbers.

Good morning everyone!
Blinds got brushed in last night after the geese went to bed. I'm just about to take breakfast out of the oven so we all have something warm to eat while we set out our decoys.
I'll post pics as we move along this morning.
