Sounds like some of you all have managed to get a lead on the location of hogs. I have a friend in Bedford who is going to introduce me to some possible hog locations. If anyone doesn't mind having company I would at least like to see some hog sign even if I can't hunt. Stalk or stand hunting is fine for hogs but the right dog or dogs sends the success rate way up. I hunt only running and baying style,no fighting unless something goes bad wrong. It isn't much different than coon hunting except you bay on the ground instead of a tree. I do not get on this site very often but if anyone wants to contact me you can do it at dcblazier@hotmail.com,otherwise "so long it's been fun, see ya around the bend"

I can see where they do alot of damage to different areas,, but I would like to see the wild hog population get to where we can have a regular season like other states, would love to elk brought into the hoosier national.

I didn't think other states had a "regular" season. I don't think a single state wants them and therefore they're open season year round and kill all you want. I think these would be bad news for Indiana IMO.

They are bad for this state but once they get started your stuck w/ em. Elk would be an awesome thing but this state doesn't have the country that KY and TN have. If the DNR released elk in HN they would be in people's backyards eating gardens up w/in days. My grandfather lives in TN where the elk where released down there....................people are having some real problems down there already w/ elk in residential areas. Elk are in flower bed and gardens.................you've got to remember that everyone is not a hunter and when people start loosing their gardens they aren't happy.

Is there any new information on potential Indiana spots for hogs?
I've looked over this thread and I checked out a map and noticed that the previously mentioned counties that had hogs formed a good size triangle of area between Medora, Leesville & Tunnelton area.
I'm curious if the hogs have expanded beyond this area?
I've also heard that near Lake Patoka there may be a farm w/ some hogs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I watched an hour long special on hogs the other day. It was either on Discovery or Animal Planet. They say these Hogs are going to be bad news for the US in the future. They think there is a hybrid breed with some type of Russian boar that gets absolutely huge. However it wasn't a Russian. I believe they said they were in about 28 states now. I guess at one time most of Europe was covered by them. They said down in Georgia you can't trap or kill enough to lower the population. I think they said they are capable of three litters of nine every 14 months.
