Could the landowner that he poached it from sue him for the value of the buck? The state owns the wildlife not landowners…. Personally, I believe it's a typo or miss-information I think it's an ignorant reporter AND editor. .

I had zero doubt. And I knew his buddy was involved too. I just felt it in my bones.

Think we all knew how this would end. State DNR's don't randomly confiscate deer without cause. Unfortunate but people make mistakes, hopefully young man confesses and owns up to his mistake and is able to move on with his life. ( No winners in these types of cases.)

I had little doubt it was killed legal and glad the truth came out. This kind of thing disgusts me and is so unfair to the ethicle hubter. For him to get on all these podcast and tell his story too is really shameful. He will have to deal with his actions now.

It's not surprising that this was the outcome. What is surprising is that people think they can get away with things like this.

A couple of questions…
Did he shine the deer and shoot it with a crossbow?
Did he sell the antlers for $20,000?

Although the article doesn't highlight the incident of "Jacklighting " it does state that there were charges of "Jacklighting".
Shameful that this all had to go down like this. Kudos to the Ohio DNR for taking their time and doing a thorough investigation into this event.

Kudos to the Ohio DNR for taking their time and doing a thorough investigation into this event. It appears that spotlighting is illegal in Ohio…It doesn't say if the Deer was shot that way.

Spotlighting is illegal in Ohio. My best guess is he did it anyway and located the deer. Whether he shot it with a light will probably come out in the trial. The man's name is mud for the rest of his life.. He will always be remembered as the poacher

The jacklighting charge is from September of 2022 same year he shot a deer without a license…

I still can't believe he went on those podcasts bringing more attention to himself. What an idiot. He must have really wanted the attention.
