I have an H&R 44mag Handi rifle that I am thinking about trading it in for a 350 Legend rifle. Any advice on which brand and model for a 350 Legend to look for? If I could I would just get a 350 barrel and put it on the receiver on the Handi, but from what I have read I can't do that with the 44 mag receiver that my H&R has. I can not get the 44 mag to shoot worth a crap. Terrible grouping at 100 yards. I can shoot better groups with my SwatX1 crossbow at 100 yards than the H&R Handi 44 mag

I have both, 44 mag HR and a ruger american in 350 legend. Confirmed the zero today on the ruger and it’s one of the favorite guns I own.

The rifle itself was 500. Then another 100 for the Vortex 2-7 scope. Plenty accurate and no recoil.

Ruger or Savage Axis 2. Standard Axis has junk triggers. Check out CVA Cascade. A lot of gun for the money. You will be surprised. My boss has 4 of them, and they are great. Cerakoted, and super good triggers. Can find all of these guns at Dunhams.

Buckhammer. I’d rather have the buckhammer as it’s a true .358”

Have you tried a bigger bullet. I have a Marlin 1894 .44 mag and it sucked with most factory ammo. Switched to .430 solid lead bullet and it was 1.5 inches at 100 yds.

My HandiRifle shot well with either 240 XTP or 270 GoldDot handloads. 300 XTP's shot equally as well, but I couldn't get the velocity I was looking for.

Only way to do that would have been to have a custom barrel made and fitted by a smith. I handloaded for my .44 Handi the few years I had it. Shot very good with 240 and 300 XTP's and 270 GoldDot. Sold it to a friend for his son to use. If you had any inclination to keep it, look up Graybeard's Forums. There is a dedicated H&R section and lots of info to try to wring out the best accuracy of those single shots.

My 1894 Is a Marlin 1894 SS ( stainless ) 20 inch barrel built in 2002, I think. Way before Remington bought them out. My barrel slugged to .430 vs the standard .429. Once I switched to .430 and some .432 bullets and started hand loading did I get excellent results. Way back in the day, I think the only factory ammo that would group well was Winchester Factory White Box. I dont shoot it much any more since we are allowed to use rifles during deer hunting season.

Remington vintage Marlins needed up to 0.434" cast to fill the bores. XTP's are already 0.430" before obturating. Those should have done pretty well in it.

I will say I was impressed with the performance of the savage 350 legend today on the deer I shot at the park. Took both deer down rather quickly. Just out of curiosity I checked the blood trail of the spike buck by backtracking him a little bit. The blood was great. Anyone could’ve followed it. I didn’t check the other one as I knew it was going to get warm and needed to get those deer out and home. The button was quartering to pretty good at about 50 yards or so and the bullet entered front right side of the chest and exited the far back left side.

.350 legend.
Killed my first deer with it today and I'm impressed. Way more than I thought I'd be. Heavy bodied buck came in to 30 yards. Placed it right behind the shoulder. Exited opposite side same spot. Deer hunched and ran 20 yards and fell over. Definitely expanded on impact and almost a baseball size exit hole
