You gotta want it lol. Mine weighs in at almost 8 lbs and the fore grip is as far forward as I can get it and it rests right in my right shoulder blade. Just think about the task at hand and the reward when that task comes to full circle I've shot a compound bow since 1989. Today was my first time packing a crossbow. I never dreamed it'd outweigh probably every firearm I've ever lugged around in the woods. Lol! Its a whole new game with the xbow. People think they make hunting easy. HA! Try shooting at a deer coming behind your tree. Not easy.

Or moving around it and with a crossbow you need more horizontal room than vertical room. Hence the reason I had to replace limbs on my xbow, it's easy to get caught up in the moment lol

Settled in for an afternoon hunt on the last remaining beans. I couldn't decide between food or water for this afternoon. Decided to go with food. Neighbors have been telling me they see several deer out here by my blind so, we'll see.
Upland hunt went well this morning. Between the group, we got 5 roosters, 3 quail and 2 woodcock.

Sacrificing an afternoon in prime time to take my 4 yo out. We're just behind the house so I'm not expecting anything. She was so excited.to be able to finally go. Hopefully the group of does we have on camera shows up, but I'm not planning on shooting unless it's a nice buck.

Hopefully dig that hook a little deeper with the hunting bug. Good on ya!

Crossbow, I treat it like a muzzleliader. One in the chamber when I leave the barn. Probably wouldn't have busted that dudes breast plate without it though.....yes, no good way to carry, especially loaded.

It's warm and windy this evening. Nothing happening yet. Maybe the last 30 minutes will be a little more exciting.

Had a great morning. Got in real early knowing there wouldn’t be much wind and luckily where I wanted to be is a short walk into the doe bedding area. Had deer all around me in the dark and even could hear chasing. After first light had a basket rack filter through. Then a spike followed by a small lull in the action. Shortly I heard some running and saw a big buck chasing a small buck off. Then I saw a doe there and here he came. Unfortunately they passed within range behind me but to thick for a shot. Luckily my thermals were pulling upwards. They filtered behind some honeysuckle but didn’t see them come out. Then two small bucks filtered through in the same direction. When they got close I heard the loudest snort-wheeze I’ve ever heard. He stepped out around 42 yards 4 times to chase the small buck off but no shots. All the while grunting and wheezing. Finally time #4 the small buck came my way. He made a larger circle and with a small window I stopped him at 35 yards. Settled the pin and watched the arrow blow through him. Perfect heart shot. He ran 30 yards and fell over right in sight. Made some phone calls and texts to friends and family. All the while watching no less than 6 more bucks filter through. Nothing too big but still great to watch. Luckily I was able to pull the utv right up to him and get him out. Unfortunately, some time after 2am when I got my last picture of him. He busted off his “third beam” or at least that’s what I called it.🤦🏻♂️ The taxidermist will fix him right up. I’ve got plenty of pictures to help them put the puzzle back together. Now most importantly….. this was the first buck taken off of my new place! 2nd sit. Can’t describe how that felt and for me personally how much the deer means to me. It was an incredible feeling. Now it’s time to hit the urban property. [url=https://postimg [/url]

Saw 3 bucks this evening out cruising including one shooter. He was walking North about 200 yds out in a corn field and I was to the east of him. I tried to call to him, but he never looked my way.

Had something walk by next to the blind, but couldnt see it. That was it.
Did see a couple nice ones on ride home, and one was a WHOPPER. It's just turning on in our neighborhood.

I've drawn mine several times in the tree with bare fingers and the butt plate against my chest and never felt a thing. I'd never think about doing it if not for necessity. Kind of like unloading five slugs in the woods with no regard or sense of hearing effect. Fire one shot at the range without hearing protection and you'd think about going deaf.

Went this evening before dark and set up a trail camera behind my house on private property. Been there several times fishing but not scouting for deer. Put up a cell camera on 2 trails and both go to this pond and the gentleman said there's a wide tall 12 point buck that visits the pond on a regular basis. Might just break my 8 point curse and harvest the my personal best buck yet. Not holding my breath, but if it's meant to be so be it. If not, maybe I will have some Intel on whats moving there anyhow
