Bob and the bow team at Buck's & Jake did a phenomenal job on my crossbow. Got it back home and it took 6 shoots at 20 yrds to get it dialed in, but I need to spend more time breaking in the limbs. I also got a chance to do some browsing around the crossbows and I got my next 1 picked out for the introductory price of $799.99. Might do some shopping around though before I squeeze that trigger

Finally dove into a decent spot tonight and saw 10 does / fawns from the love swing ! No discernible bucks, definitely no chasing unfortunately.
Told myself I wouldn’t shoot a doe unless it was walking down wind of me within range in the cut beans ….. almost made it happen but with the slightest wind shift about sundown I got blown at and they all cleared. I howled a couple times and headed to Taco Bell 🤣🤗

I don't limit myself to 20 yrds, but that's where I start the initial setup, and it's in the ballpark after that. I use a tripod shooting stick at home just for the stability and accuracy

My brother, a good buddy, and I all went down to a section of HNF over the last 3 days for our annual trip. Awesome trip. Deer action was a bit slower than normal. Temps near 80 didn’t help anything I’m sure. We didn’t see a single buck. Overall, I think we saw 11 does; one of which, I was able to get an arrow in. Shot her 2.25 miles from the truck making her the farthest I’ve had to pack a deer out from. Thankful to have the first deer of the year down and some fresh meat for the freezer. Tonight I had an amazing encounter with a big bobcat. Strolled by across a saddle at eye level with me, 10 yards away. I got amazing video of it. He never knew I was there. Really great trip overall, but now I’m changing gears for the chaos of November.

The cold front just passed thru our area, temp went from 70deg to 48deg already. I'm behind the curve on being ready, so wont be hunting Sat am, waiting till Sat pm, and it will be Luke behind the xbow. Lows in the 20's next couple nights. Seeing several mature bucks on the MI forum I watch, including daytime pics AND midday. Soooooo, its ramping up! Good luck all, and will be some spilled blood soon!

In the natural blind for the first hunt. Looks like dnr has been working back here, the fire trail has been run down good.
A good rainsuite and gortex boots will keep you dry to the bone. Just hope there is enough wax on this old crossbow string.
Only out here for a trophy. Good luck yall!

It's not feeling like a good morning for me, but I'm in position and ready anyhow. Wind can't make up its mind which direction it wants to blow, so it might make it a challenge not being in a tree. Good luck yall and be careful.

Just a little mist here in Jefferson/Switzerland co. I did bring the greatest invention ever with me. The tree umbrella just in case

This poplar tree was a bear to climb for some reason. Maybe because it was wet?
Anyway, I’m strapped in until early afternoon.
Just had some ducks fly in to the pond and the squirt are getting active.

Small 8 point in range. Came in from downwind. He knew something was up, but never could figure out where I was.

Seen 2 doe so far and a coyote came through just before enough light to shoot. Nothing since.

I just decided to embrace the suck and headed to the stand in the rain. I’m pretty damp, but hopefully the heavy stuff is all gone for now.

Had target buck at 30 yds last night, my tree right between us. Acorn crop is still hitting strong, makes these buggers hard to hunt.

Pretty quiet morning in Owen County, considering the temp drop, north wind a time of year.
