Stayed until dark. Crappy weather all around. Only player was a doe fawn that ran into the field about 1740 about 100 yds, hit my scent and went back. I was just a spectator for that one anyway. So ended my 2023 big game season, continuing good luck to all. As if on cue.....I started the truck to hear Jack and Diane by Mellencamp playing on Q95 ......I am gonna hate to leave tomorrow. Glad to have had you join us. I enjoy your input.

Congrats! Sounds like a lot of work. I have vowed to never shoot more than one again. If you are butchering them yourself that is a lot of work. I can only handle one at a time. You need to talk to Deadeer. LOL He's going to be butchering for a few days in a row I think. It's really not bad at all. Three deer skinned and boned in 3 hours, resting in a cooler with ice now. Knock out the other 2 on Tues. Then still gotta clean it up and package. Went and bought a new jerky slicer today from Bass Pro. Cant wait to break that in.

Back in the stand this morning. It’s warm and breezy in southern Indiana.

Checked to make sure my blind was still where I left it before work. Wind is kicking.

My freezer is full. The buck is packaged and in the freezer. My good friend dropped off two fresh turkeys yesterday. A 15# and 18#. I'm ready for what ever winter throws at us.

Congrats to all that scored this weekend. I am struggling big time. I hunted a total of 28.5 hrs sat thru Monday so far and have not killed a thing. I did pass on two small bucks and a few non-antlered deer but yet to see a decent deer. Even in bow season I logged over 30 hunts and did not see a shooter buck. i am not quitting though, the season goes fast and as long as I keep going I have a chance, for I know your season can change in a 30 seconds. You’ll see a good one and score big. Don’t make it like work but enjoy yourself and that when it happens. Thanks for the encouraging words Bill, I will stick it out till the end. I also hunt in Perry County and there was really an influx of out of state hunters in my areas the last 2 weeks of bow season. I never seen so many trucks with out of state plates on them. These deer were definitely pressured this year.

Too cold for my baby girl, so I'm set up solo this evening, sure feels right, good luck and shoot straight!

Got our deer meat on ice, garage cleaned up, ready to start the finish work.
BUT... sure can't ignore the awesome weather this evening, so Luke is behind the gun waiting on his next victim. I switched out to my park gun, 358win short neck. Needed to verify zero anyway, so figure we would use it.
Took wife out for lunch, and we seen a BRUISER chasing a doe at high noon today!

Maybe Matt Rinella is on to something.. Hunt Quietly
