Got the water sealer on and moved to the swamp over the weekend. This was the easy part, now I have to drag it on to a little peninsula to the left of this photo and beach it there. Now that I look at this swamp, it’s 4-5 acres at best, no where near 6-7. At any rate, you smell pretty nasty once you get in this stuff, or so my wife says.

5 of us slugged the pontoon/duck blind to the resting spot today. At least it wasn’t crazy hot out.

We can walk out without waders, and it’s pretty well beached. Camo nets and some tree limbs to come.

Drove a fence post down about 3-4 feet, then used some heavy gauge fence wire to tie it secure.

View to the north, a lot of birds come through that low gap in the trees and will cross right in front. The photo makes the distance look farther than it really is.

Drove a fence post down about 3-4 feet, then used some heavy gauge fence wire to tie it secure. I'd put another one on the opposite side and tie it to the stakes with a rope with a few feet of slack in it. If we gut another Hurricane Ike roll through here it could float up and off of those stakes, then you'd have to drag it back in place.

As esshup said I would put another post on the other side but I would also give it more slack and I would put a round piece of pipe around that post so it doesn't cut into your pontoon.

All done. I know, the leaves will fall off and we will be left with just branches, but looks good now. Spooked off 20-30 geese and about that many wood ducks when we tied the top cover and put branches on.

I always use OAK because it won't loose it's leaves.
