I thought this was a pretty cool pic. It's the first mate Ryan netting a nice walleye for Luke. He is 17yo, and I must say did an outstanding job with us! At 12yo, Luke still has a couple inches and about 100# on him. Here is Captain Bob holding up one of the big ones that Luke caught. I honestly cant say enough nice things about how Bob treated all of us, especially Luke. What a top notch, first rate guy. I couldnt pass up the shot of a proud dad with his son.

Here's Featherduster with a nice one. He is a really good sport, great host, and a barrel full of laughs. The boat ran 16 rods, 8 per side. When a fish is on, someone watching yells out the rod number, each side 1-8. It was quite amusing when Luke was up to the line, and Featherduster yells out, "FISH ON ROD #9!!! Luke looked around stood there. Lol. In the heat of the moment, it's easy to forget about having only 8. Lol

Schall53 with a scrapper on. He got the best mixed bag of the trip. He got nice walleye, a dink walleye, a nice catfish, and a sheephead or two. The captain flopped the catfish back in before anybody could get a trophy shot. Three way hero shot of Schall53, Luke, and esshup cranking in a triple. Here's their friend Bruce, Captain Bob, and Schall53 getting ready to seal the deal. I found it amazing how accurate Bob was. He would say fish on rod x, I'd look up and it looked like the rest of the rods. I would hesitate thinking oh ok, and he'd say "grab it before you lose the fish", and I'll be danged there's a fish on it, lol. Or when he would grab a rod and "feel it" then hand it off and say "here, fish on, it's a big fish".

Great write up deadeer. It was fantastic meeting Luke and getting to know you and Essup better. You are doing a great job bringing up your “little son “, he is a great guy. It was a pleasure fishing with all of you. That first day as crazy as it was, wondered if you were thinking what did we get ourselves into. You guys got onto the system quickly and did a great job! The first day with the rough water I want to thank you for all the times you grabbed this fat old man and kept me on my feet. Also thanks for the cheeks! Deadear and Luke won the cheeks and most graciously gave them to featherduster, Bruce and me to split.Guess what’s for supper? All in all it was a great trip. I hope you guys will come again.

It was a great trip, even the rain and bouncy water on Friday wasn't bad, and it was nowhere near what I have seen on a boat. It was an hour and a quarter run to get to where the bigger fish were, and the bigger concentration of fish. Then I think the best meal of the whole trip was dinner last night when we brought in the fish we caught to have cooked. Fantastic!! It was great meeting everyone again, and getting introduced to Bruce.

Now my turn... It's taken years of fishing out of Marblehead to refine things to what we now have and so I get worried about taking new people onboard that might screw things up. Deadeer, his son Luke and Esshup were the perfect fit right out of the box.
Luke: is a super, nice, quiet young man who catches on fast. Deadeer: a real genuinely nice guy and a good father figure. Esshup: has been making a living at stocking and handling live fish the only difference is this time he got to fish for them.
Day 1: first we had to deal with a rainy, choppy 50 min boat ride to the Canadian side of the lake. For some unknown reason we could not get firing on all 8 cylinders for the first hour or so and the worst part of it is we are sitting on top of a mess of fish. Once we got our act together it was "FISH ON" and we were done in no time with 37 fish weighing 100 pounds, which included the 8 pound monster that LUKE caught and backed up with another 7 pound monster.
Day 2 : we had clear sky's, calm seas and overnight we changed our MOJO. We hit that Canadian side of the Lake and we showed those Walleye's who's boss. We finished out the second day with 41 fish. We old timers kept Luke busy reeling in fish.
We took a 5 pound bag of fish to the Crow's nest restaurant and they cooked them up to perfection and left us happy.
We cut for the Wings and Cheeks with Luke and his dad won both bags of cheeks and super kind gesture they gave me and Schall53 the cheeks.
Esshup is an excellent house keeper because when we let that house it was spotless. I am hoping that this group can repeat this event again next year.

Man this is a great post! Thanks again to everybody for the team effort across the boards. Nobody got left out of the fun and we made a lifetime of memories no question.
I opened the sit down meet and greet with a toast to Treetop Dave Hartman. I'd say he would be in heaven with all the pics and talk of the good times. He just beat us there. Rest in peace brother.

That looks like a darn good day. Did your charter captain say anything about the perch fishing? A guy we went with last august said that parch were hard to come by, and not worth his time/our money. Just curious. Perch fishing was better last year then it has been for the past few years...but still not like it was 10 years ago.
