Most hunters around here don't like to help others. you always find some guy who thinks he owns a spot because he has hunted it for the last 10 years. I think if you help some one some day they may help you.

You guys are overlooking the best chance at getting all the does you want. I will be the first to let you all in on a little secret. Go north..... urban zones......bow hunting only......contact the big businesses. The old American Bridge Co has tons of deer there so does US steel. They will want you to sign a liability release, just to protect them from getting sued.

I haven't shot a bow since I built a Bear back in the early eighties. Too bad these Urban Deer Zones can't be designated Archery/"Primitive" firearms (flintlock/matchlock - roundball only) Think they'd be game for Crossbow in Late Season? I've got to work on my shoulders before I can draw a bow again anyway.

I wish that I had a spot to share with some people, but I am looking also. If I find a spot I will be letting you NW Indiana people know. That way I can find a friend and a hunting partner at the same time.

DDragon,
I might take you up on that. I haven't ever hunted birds and might like it. I am not going to skip deer season though. I am going back to Ohio this weekend to do some bow hunting and then I am going for the first two days of their gun season.

I know how you feel. I have hunted a farm for 24 years now, about 8 years ago the owner passed and his wife about 5 years ago. Now the 6 kids want to get rid of the farm ,none of them care about farming. 5 live out of town and state. So being the only one allowed to hunt there for 24 years ,this will be my last season, the farm will be a full of houses next spring. 165 acers gone! If anything is true this is, NOTHING LAST FOR EVER!! WELL EXCEPT GOD ! That is so wrong hell my wife 7 kids and I would had bout it. If we knew about it. Most of my generation have no respect for family traditions and family land. I would be excited to get my family land in Alabama.

I'll be hunting the slough again. It has lots of does as well. I saw lots during firearms season wasn't able to get out much with my bow. This season gonna make better efforts to be in the woods with my bow. Anyone else hunt the slough if so which area?

I am going back to Ohio this weekend to do some bow hunting and then I am going for the first two days of their gun season. I hope you have a great success with the birds, and I hope you still get out for deer too. We're planning a put-n-take in Oct. You're welcome to join us. I'm planning to go some this year, but I'll be going south of Indy. I totally understand guys not wanting to give up their honey spot, but I think most of the guys hunt private property. I heard there's some good zombie hunting in Gary, but that's just a rumor. Someday, I'd like to take a guided waterfowl hunt somewhere.

What's happening my fellow nw Indiana hunters. I grew up hunting jp for years. Seems like I've been fortunate the last couple years to have moved on to some private ground but I still get the itch to hit my old spot once in a while. I think that's the single hardest thing being a hunter in this area is to find a decent place private or not that you feel is your "own" and have confidence in. All in who ya know I guess

This season gonna make better efforts to be in the woods with my bow. Anyone else hunt the slough if so which area? I've been there a few times in the southern areas which are more wooded. I usually find an area that works with the wind direction and has no vehicles parked. Have seen a couple does there, many more while driving in. Good luck.
