Poorly written article in my opinion. Did the guy have prior knowledge of the infection? Or is it illegal to import any deer head into KY?

In KY… What can hunters bring in from out of state?
While hunters cannot bring whole carcasses back from out of state, they can bring back the following: quarters or other portions of meat with no part of the spine or head attached, boned-out meat, antlers, antlers attached to a clean skull plate, a clean skull, clean teeth, hides and finished taxidermy products. The brain and spinal column must be removed and left behind. fw.ky.gov/Wildlife/Pages/CWD-FAQ.aspx

Agree.. When and where was it tested? I say it wasn’t infected…. He probably didn’t follow protocol correctly for transportation IMO The article clearly states it was infected? I've heard stories of game wardens sitting at state lines waiting for people to bring in skulls from other states. In this case I'm wondering if a taxidermist turned him in.

Good to see it was actually tested and results documented I always assumed there was a time frame for testing after death of animal! Maybe it was in the time frame Glad to see a Kentucky agency article on the case…

With the fantastic ELK herd at stake this is a very important issue.
