I’ve take a few mostly by luck I believe I stand a decent chance this year so my question is what do I do with one? the others I just breasted out much like a goose I’m sure I wasted good meat. I’d assume you would treat it just like any farm raised bird but honestly don’t know any tricks on cleaning one the right way Any recipe for different things would be greatly appreciated also

I keep the breast and legs. I do the legs in a crock pot with bbq sauce.

I used to take the bird and get a cooler of hot water (165 degrees) and dunk the whole bird in it. Then hang it by its neck and pluck it naked, then I would take a blow torch over it to get all the little itty bitty fuzzys that I couldn’t get off. Then while still hanging I would gut the bird and remover everything. Then I would cut the legs and head off and take the bird in the sink and wash it all clean. By now other than the big V shaped breast it looked like a store bought bird……over the years I found out I couldn’t eat the legs and some of the other meat. So…..I figure that’s waaay too much work for just breast meat. I now just split the bird open and pull the breasts out and chuck the rest. Lately we’ve grown fond of fresh Turkey burgers on the BGE so that’s what I’ve been doing the last few years, grinding the meat up to make Turkey burgers.

I skin it and breast it out. I keep the breast and I give the legs and thighs to my father in law.
Daphne only likes wild turkey if it's in the nugget variety. Lol! Therefore, that's how I make mine. Have regular, the other half spicy.

That was kind of my thoughts back when I was young we would do chickens and some turkeys my grandparents had a 30 gallon at least cast iron pot they would build a fire under it and we dipped them and plucked away nasty job smelled wonderful The other birds I got I was out of state so I just took the breast really wasn’t even hunting them they were just in that area so I bought tags and got lucky Honestly I deer hunted them more than turkey hunted them but it worked out

Turkeys come few and far between so the first thing I do is take some nice photos. Then I will open an ice cold bottle of MILLER GENUINE DRAFT beer and take the bird out to the back of the property and pick it till it's as smooth as a baby's butt. I neatly separate the legs, cut the neck off right at the body and save the gizzard, liver and heart for a small pot of soup. I freeze the body so my wife can make it in a roaster, the legs get slow cooked in a crock pot.

I keep the breast and legs. I do the legs in a crock pot with bbq sauce. Hard to go wrong with most wild birds just throwing them in a slow cooker

I thought about doing that but I was hoping to get 3 or 4 meals out of instead of one big one Like you said at least for me anyway few and far between but I really fill good this year I watched this flock grow from just a few birds to a nice size flock and they seem to come and stay here from spring till late fall every year so far

Two bird limit with 25 dollar purchase at Kroger Per visit…. You left out the important part it seems! Why yes I did but I’m here to tell ya 1 lap around Kroger is enough for me in fact one lap around any store other than a sporting good store is enough for me I dislike shopping dislike the idiots standing in the isle talking on the phone asking little Johnny what kind of cereal he wants or people chatting with people they haven’t seen for some time it’s like they can’t even see you trying to get around them the one that really gets me going is the person arguing about a 25 cent coupon they didn’t get here’s a dollar go away for the love Pete The biggest is lottery people at gas stations can’t you pick your tickets out while your inline waiting on someone else picking tickets out Why yes I am annoyed easily but that’s not the point
