I understand this is probably the firast Kid on the Block syndrome but some folks are a little off. I usually do not buy the first of anything knowing that usually the price goes down after a while. This is a penny auction and the bidding started at $0.01, 1 cent! I also do not buy guns to sit in the safe either. Greghopper's $1000 sounds better to me. Now I wonder what the 1894 is going to sell for? www.gunbroker.com/item/979096847

It is just a RC, Regular Carbine. Every other rifle goes up from there. I do not know who bought it or why but with my upbringing I know it would not be enjoyable for me. BTW there have been several in this price range. I believe the 1895 had some go for even more. Free enterprise at work. The auction started at a penny.

The same thing occurred when Ruger first introduced the Marlin model 1895 in .45-70gvt.
GunBroker auctions routinely closed with dozens of bids for well over $2500 when the M.S.R.P. was around $1200. Cheaper than Dirt listed an 1895 for "only" $3995 IN STOCK and ready to ship.
Let the market calm down and the price will relax some. I hope quite a bit...
