If those are honey mushrooms, then those are what a buddy and I were finding when I was a kid. We found enough to fill the black trash bags full.

Brian picked a sack full of pasture mushrooms out of the yard yesterday. He read somewhere to saute them before freezing. He gave me some, will let you know how it works out.

Can it be partially fried and froze to keep?

Rinse it but don't soak it because the edges will get real wet a sloppy.
Your lucky that one is growing on a log it will be easy to clean.
Cut it into 1/2 strips to freeze or cook.
I vacuum seal enough for a meal.
Cook it like you would chicken.
Some folks may have a problem digesting them, could give you an upset stomach.
I like to deep fry mine with a Cajun fish batter.

Just tried a handful of it fried up like morels. Egg dredge, flour, and salt after frying. Not a fan.

I didn't have time to go pick it. Too busy moving fish now. Left Thursday for Arkansas, came back Friday, 1350 miles round trip. Delivered those fish today - 8am to 9pm 320 miles today.... Warsaw to Bremen to 2 stops in Rochester to Crown Point to LaPorte and lastly Rolling Prairie.

There are two that look the same, they grow together. DON"T eat the one with white gills (false death cap). Pasture mushrooms have a salmon colored gills that turn a little darker as they age. Thanks, never seen these before. Are they any good to eat? How was your duck season opener? We use them the same as you would Portabella mushrooms. Usually on steak. Taste the same. Opener was okay, Brian got his limit yesterday, got his limit of woodies and teal this morning.

With the rain the past couple of days and temperatures in the 60s should find some of the hens popping up.
