Laid off life is harder than working life. What gives... Got my bud over this morning to break up another pile of logs for me. It was all the bigger ones that were too much to lift. Break them all down to 1/2s and 1/3s and it's much easier on my back. Plus this way only took about 2 hours. He picked each one up, brought it over the pile and broke them. My splitter and stack are right there behind this pile.

I would need your buddies help! My back has been a mess for years, and one thing that has me tapping out the quickest is a lot of bending low to grapple with awkward stuff like logs. Good way to mess yourself up in the first place. During the craziness of 2020 I helped Clifty park staff outside so I could keep working. we felled a lot of dead trees, and the saw man would sometimes cut limbs up into sections that were somewhat ambitious to tackle. When I caught the guys tugging on them I'd use my "dad voice" to make them stop so I could help. ( I also made em wear ear plugs. Darn kids ) Ill advised lifting choices in my twenties still haunt me. That heat will feel good later!

The pile out front is the reject pile. My bud will bee back to take all those knotted up and Y pieces and anything that won't split with ease. I have too much good stuff to play around with the bad stuff...

Take em down the easy way. Plus I have no fear standing back and waiting on it to hit the ground...

I take it they are dead already It's a fence row full of mainly cherry that is in the way of the irrigation. The line has to fold in order to make it past this row. My bud just got an excavator for their farm and is taking out this row. They were gonna pile these trees up and burn away at them. Then they figured having me there to cut and dismantle them and then just driving them up to my pile was gonna be easier. So I got free wood. Free bobcat/excavator to get them downed and moved over to my pile on the other side of the field. Free drivers. All I have to do is cut off stumps and section them up as they come down. Then when they get they sections brought to me I cut them all to fire log length. Then I got another bud over to break all the big fire logs in half with the bobcat splitter. Now it's just finish off with my gas splitter , stack it up and cover it, and wait on the cash.

I spent 4-5 hours today manning the saw. Long story, but I was cutting logs into about 24"-30" pieces and cutting "V's" in them so I could put logs sideways on top of them and have the logs up off the ground as a barrier to ATV's/trucks driving onto a property. 79cc saw, 24" bar and sometimes it was barely long enough. Once the snow melts I'll start putting them in position. I brought the pieces that I cut out home for the fireplace insert. About 1/2 an 8' PU truck bed full.

I took a pine tree down last Saturday, if a guy was willing and able he could make a lot of money taking trees down. Hard work? Yes. Generally low amount of thinking involved once the tree is down. A lot of liability though. A lot of ware and tear on an average vehicle you would buy at a car lot but maybe after a few jobs a guy could afford a flatbed one ton and get some bigger jobs. If I didn't have the job I have now I would strongly consider it.

I cut up a 2 trees in the front yard of the property where I reduction hunted this year. A huge oak that fell from a storm 2 years ago and a hickory that was still standing beside it. Told the home owners I was not comfortable dropping the hickory since it was beside the house. I had them hire a tree service to come just drop the tree. 1 cut. 3 guys. 1 bobcat. About 45 mins. $1200
