A buddy called me Friday night at 10:40 pm while I was at work to go Goose hunting on some private property that he hunts . I said sure .So we meet up at 1:00 pm and get the decoys out and set up the layout blinds and wait .The wait was only about a half an hour and two small flocks of Geese start heading our way and they kept flying past our spread and calling . and about 3:45 pm the Geese started flying a flock here a flock flying there but none of them committed to our calling or decoys .Needles to say no one shot a bird but they were there .

I’ve been thinking maybe I should buy one of those Goose flags to add some motion in the decoy spread

Birds can be hard. Hide well. Use a flag for birds off in the distance. Dont overuse it.

I’m going to say that we stuck out like a sore thumb. The layout blinds were in a harvested soybean field. I would like to believe that if we were standing in the tree line we would of had a better chance of getting birds or if we put the blinds in or near the tail grass we would have been better concealed.

This time of year they will see your boot lace untied and flare...

Try using a field layout chair/pad with tall socks or such tucked in around you. The use of those is far less prevalent and your profile will be much lower/different than a layout blind.
