These are called the POOR MAN'S LOSTER. They are also known as Eelpout. At one time there used to be a huge ice fishing tournament in the state of Minnesota so big it was discontinued because it was unmanageable, first prize was a new truck.

My son is pout crazy, good night during the spawn can be action packed. He has caught a fair number over that 10lb mark. Not a huge fan of eating them, I don’t think it’s anywhere close to lobster…lol
