Can someone explain to me why they keep voting again and again? Textbook definition of insanity.
The Democrats and media (one in the same?) are eating this up and I can't blame them one bit. It is absolutely astonishing how bone-headed the opposition is acting. I hope every last one of them loses reelection and so be it if their seat(s) are lost to Democrats. They deserve what they get and so does the RNC (lack of) leadership.

There are only two outcomes here….. Either Kevin McCarthy withdraws from the Speaker's race, or he has to wake up every morning and put on the world's best constructive straitjacket before the beginning of every House session.

Is it possible that the Republican "nay" votes are actually a good thing? If McCarthy wins,he already knows this wasn't easy and he has to really make something happen? Personally, I have no idea, but maybe this is how it should be. I have said for about 30 years, the reason the election for president has been so close is because neither candidate was any good. Maybe the same thing here, time will tell...

None of it all is any big deal. It is EXACTLY how our form of government is SUPPOSE to work. Nothing irretrievable is being lost. Those people don't even go to work until NOON, and most days 90% of those seats are empty. It is GOOD to see them in there, doing what they get paid for. For a change. I'd call government grid lock a HUGE improvement over the last two years. More power to them.

The record is 133 votes, we have a long way to go to even come close to that many votes.

McCarthy is just another swamp rat from California. Not to difficult to see why he's not getting support.

Republicans have got yo get their act together and get on the same page, we are quickly headed towards another presidential election. This kind of "stuff" is going to turn swing votes the wrong way. Too much left BS going on in the US right now I'm so sick of it and just want a conservative point of view in charge. Really disappointed.

Can't let this crap get you down.
Just gotta work with the cards that are dealt us.
I've tuned out 98% of the tv/news. I catch a smidge on the internet, and less on the radio. Life has gotten better ever since.

It looks like he's one vote shy of getting the majority now.

I would 100% give the "opposition" some respect IF they would offer a viable alternative, which they have not in any way done so.
They repeatedly nominate Jim Jordan. No doubt in my mind that he would make a great Speaker, except for the fact that he has repeatedly said that he has no interest and questions why they keep nominating him. Steve Scalise? Another great guy that is well qualified. But, again, not interested.
It's like writing in Buggs Bunny on the Presidential ballot. Might be a better choice, but not going to happen.
I sincerely hope that McCarthy is elected without giving into the likes of Boebert and Gaetz. He can the appoint them to NO committees, respectfully.
By the way, does anyone out there honestly thinks that Boebert would get elected if she was not an attractive young lady?

McCarthy is just another swamp rat from California. Not to difficult to see why he's not getting support. You would have to educate yourself to realize that, that is the problem. Trump is backing him for who knows what real reason.

I stayed up and watched the two votes. Vote #14 was supposed to be it as Boebert told them she was switching and voting FOR McCarthy. In the actual vote she voted "present". That threw it into a "tie" - 216 out of 432 votes cast. On to #15. What little respect I had for her disappeared at that moment.
In the #15 vote no one else was nominated so I knew it was McCarthy's unless some Republicans voted for the extreme left wing Jeffries. Even then Gaetz was promised a committee chairmanship to get his "present vote". I have NEVER cared for him at all.
Now, the question is - Can McCarthy govern with this "Republican version of the Squad?

I seen someone had to be restrained after the 14 vote….. surprised the Democrats wanted to stay for 15th vote that back fired on them at 12:30 am.

Now I’m hearing that Gaetz was supposed to vote for McCarthy on vote #14 he also reneged and voted “present”. That’s why Mike Rogers got in his face after he cast his “present” vote.
He and Boebert showed their true colors.
Prediction - between the HFC and the Dems very little will get done legislative wise in this Congress.

If the OP ED that I read is correct, then the way the government is really and truly screwed up.
1) Term limits won't work because people need to be in there a long time to figure out how Congress works. 2) Bills have to be lumped together or tacked onto other bills or else they won't ever pass if they have to stand on their own for a vote. 3) The government can't function without the debt ceiling being raised.
etc., etc.
WHAT?? Maybe if the government had to only spend what they took in, and cut the fat out of the spending bills, then maybe they could live without raising the debt ceiling.
If a bill can't stand on it's own, then it shouldn't be approved.
Not knowing how Congress works to me = not knowing how to pay people off with the bills that can't stand on their own merit.
