She had a little “episode” a while ago. I got her up to clean and put fresh shavings, hee back legs were wobbly, and not comfortable being on her feet. After a few laps around the pen, started screaming and convulsing. Lasted about a minute. Called and left a message with a friend that does this all the time. I’m still pretty green, could be normal but I didn’t like it. She eventually layed down and half relaxed, still breathing hard.

I'd be curious to hear what your friend thinks what that was all about.

Contractions, you about to be a Daddy. That’s kind of what I thought, but none since, and No mucos plug, No broke water, no milk. Didn’t hear back from my buddy, vet said she is probably getting started.

She has calmed down somewhat, breathing is now only about 40 BPM. My wife is a nurse practitioner, so with all our kids she knew what was normal and obvious to her. So I didn’t get as worked up. She knows less about pigs than I do, so I don’t have that same comfort factor. My buddy hasn’t called back yet, but chances are he’s elbow deep in several litters. Traded messages with the vet and he didn’t seem too concerned so I guess I will just try and be patient.

Still nothing. If anything, she’s more relaxed now than at 8:00 this morning. I’m going back and forth between our place and a family get together about 3 miles away. C’mon pig, let’s go.

You cant RUSH Mother Nature. Did you go through any LAMAZE courses with her? I didn’t spend any money or anything, but we might have snuggled a time or 2 and practiced breathing techniques. 🤓

Still the same, rigged up a hose with a nipple to get her some water, she hasn’t drank since between 4:00 and 8:00 am. Seems ok, just have to wait it out.

She had another seizure/convulsion, and then died. Don’t really know much more than that. After she was gone I checked, and there was no piglet stuck in her. She wasn’t very open either. Like I said, I don’t really know what happened.

Oh my….
I’m sorry to read that.
Does the vet have any ideas why?
My condolences…

That stinks. I kept checking back looking for a picture of the piglets.
