Yesterday I went over to a bud that's cleaning out trees from a few fields. Along fence rows and one had a island in the middle. While there checking on getting more firewood I noticed a small flock of geese trying to get in the corn. Then another. Then another. Pretty soon there was a couple hundred out there. Right in the middle of a buds corn field. Hmm...

Went over and checked the field this evening. Was there right at last light. Saw no less than 15 flocks leaving. Lots an lots of birds. Will they stay for 1 more day. My bud is gonna drive over there at sunrise and get a visual on where they are congregating first thing. Game on Sat morning.....

Went by and looked around 3 this afternoon. Several hundred ,, maybe 1k out loafing all over the one corner ,,.up close to one of the houses. Definitely a limit or 2 out there. Wed when I saw them and then this morning when my bud went by it was 10 am before they arrived. Weather looks to be extra nasty tomorrow.

At least you don't have to get out there at the butt crack of dawn! Heck, if you are on the X you don't even need to put out decoys. Just hide really, really well. |

Was brutal out there this morning. Wind was whipping right across all morning. Birds didn't fly till after 9. Couple huge flocks came in and skirted us. We still saw lots of birds. Sure is tough to shoulder guns straight all bundled up like ralphie...
Ended around noon with 6 birds....

Was brutal out there this morning. Wind was whipping right across all morning. Birds didn't fly till after 9. Couple huge flocks came in and skirted us. We still saw lots of birds. Sure is tough to shoulder guns straight all bundled up like ralphie... Ended around noon with 6 birds.... Don't give up on the field. Things can turn around quickly. |
