The big question is, did they connect on their shots?
Be curious to see how that turns out. Sounds like the hunters were legal, but never know for sure.

Poor decisions on the part of the hunters.

The area of the river in question is located in the downtown areas of Jeffersonville and Louisville.
On the Jeffersonville side there are a lot of businesses and residential properties.
The Louisville side of the river is mostly commercial properties.
There are 4 bridges located near that area as well.
Is it legal to hunt there? I have no idea, but I don't necessarily think it's the smartest place to hunt and discharging a shotgun in that type of area is definitely going to draw attention from residents, business owners and their customers as well as law enforcement.

I have fished the falls area and it seems like a hike to get to waters edge, especially at low water. But there may be areas where the channel runs up against a "sea wall" of sorts.
I have no idea but know the noise in that area is high due to the river, planes, trains, automobiles and the likes. Not sure a shotgun blast is as noticeable on the river as it is on a lake full of residents/cottages.

I'm surprised there isn't at least a city ordinance that prohibits discharging firearms within city limits. A lot of cities and towns around here have that in place.

Some hunters helped close down Geist from my understanding wasn’t just the general public! If you mean by pushing their limits maybe. I don't recall anyone other than the republican speaker of the house Brian Bosma speaking to a news reporter supporting the closure due to safety issues. Despite the facts of boating during the summer had more accidents, arrests and complaints than duck hunting. He was no friend of the hunters.

There were a few holier than you "hunters". Typically associated with a deer hunting group. I never counted on those guys to be part of my brotherhood.

They have tried to shut down waterfowl hunting here on the St Joe a few times before also. Most of it all comes down to the residents just don't like to hear gun shots. Not that they are worried about safety. Safety is just their excuse...

I think Waterfowl hunting creates a lot of conflict. Many times the birds are close to neighborhoods and you have a group of hunters that all unload their guns when the birds come in an it sounds like a war. I have been part of it. Yesterday morning I'm laying in bed and I hear goose hunters unloading a couple of times and of course I know what's going on but others don't. I took a drive to find them and was surprised that they weren't closer than they were. They were west of us across another road past a school and another neighborhood. I'm sure those people in the other neighborhood weren't all too happy with them helping to reduce the goose population. As Duff knows I have been part of the problem. When I lived in Anderson and their was no ordinance on shooting guns in the city limits and I hunted in the city limits.

Geist is not closed completely, parts are still huntable and get hunted.
