Makes you wonder what drives these #'s. Why the increase in buck taken this year? IMO. Growing deer herd and early firearms start date.

Makes you wonder what drives these #'s. Why the increase in buck taken this year? In my area, I haven't killed a doe in at least 10 years. IMO, harvest numbers are misleading. I killed my buck and only took my daughter the remainder of the season. I could have killed my county quota of does, but chose not to do so,due to the overall lack of deer in my area. There are fewer and fewer every year. I'm guessing several other people are doing the same thing.

121,851 as of 8:03 am cst on February 2nd Probably all in that is going to be in. This season topped last season by 9,370 deer. Although there might be pockets of aeras where deer are less populated than before I believe that the over all state herd is in great shape. My county (Warrick) has been pretty flat for quite sometime. I'm pretty sure that is what the DNR is shooting for.. Check out your county at.. www.in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/wildlife-resources/animals/white-tailed-deer/deer-harvest-data/
