I made a post a few weeks back on suggestions about a Teton National Park and Yellowstone trip we were taking. We just got back yesterday. It was very beautiful country. I enjoyed Yellowstone better. The Tetons were rugged and breathtaking, but I liked Yellowstone the best. When we decided to see Old Faithful we pulled up and there were people everywhere. We had to walk a long way because there were no parking places. I told my wife we will probably get there right after it blows. We finally get there and didn't wait 30 seconds and she blew. It was pretty neat but not earth-shattering. The Grand Canyon in Yellowstone was my favorite. We saw Buffalo, elk, bear, pronghorn, and moose, but no Grizzlies or wolves. One thing I didn't like was the crowds. It was nice, but I'm very happy to be back home. The flight over the Rocky Mountains was great and had very clear skies and it was my first time in a commercial jet plane for me. I had a window seat. Jackson Hole was a mad house and very expensive. We went on a 13-mile Snake River float trip that was fun, but my old back and rear end were glad to see the van at the end of the trip. We drove the Teton Pass into Jackson Hole and many times were driving through clouds. Some road construction delays as long as a total of 1-1/2 hours made the trip less fun in the pass.

I’d agree old faithful was not what I expected either I like the Tetons better probably because of the crowds both are worth the trip and I’d go back in a heartbeat.
That’s exactly what I said about Jackson Hole in your first post May of had its place in time and history but not any more just a big tourists trap, I did enjoy the elk refuge not really much to see but I seen a lot of wildlife.

For your next trip Try Custer State Park in South Dakota, just be sure to take plenty on apples and carrots.

Having lived out here (CO) for 13 years now I can say that I dread the summer because of the traffic (especially the damned RVs) and tourists. Fall, after school is back in, is the best time to do some traveling in the west in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed your trip and if you ever have any questions about CO feel free to ask!

Bucket list trip for me. We had reservations at Mammoth Inn and Old Faithful Inn cabins this October, during the kids fall break. The park actually terminated our reservations due to the flooding. Maybe we can make it happen in the next year or two.

My wife and I went to Yellowstone and Glacier a few years ago. Yellowstone was amazing! Like you I didn't see any wolves but we did see a grizzly, it bluffed charged our vehicle, which was neat. Had a bison walk about 5 yards from me while I was cooking at our campsite, didn't even hear it, my wife said "turn around slowly" lol.
