Folks who fish the Great Lakes love Coho, Steelhead and King Salmon but most of them turn their head on Lake Trout.
Lake Trout are pretty predictable and fairly easy to catch, they offer great fights and get pretty big in size.
Our group talked about this fish and it was agreed upon us that they are in our opinion just as good as any of the above mentioned fish.
Schall53 and Bruce both smoke their catches as for me I like to grill them and incorporate them into other recipes.
Tonight my wife and I enjoyed Lake Trout that I rubbed with olive oil and some McCormick's maple and bourbon seasoning then I grilled them to perfection. My wife made her salsa recipe with garden fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions and basil mixed together with a red wine vinaigrette.
Take all of these components and stuff them into a soft taco shell and add a little bit of what ever you like...as for me I like Sweet Chili sauce.

I used to eat them up when working out of Michigan City. My coworker was from Michigan and like most of the folks I have known from MI they felt superior to Hoosiers...he said here's another greaser for you as we pulled in the gill nets.
I am not much for trout or salmon anyways but I could never tell a difference between coho, Chinook, steelhead or the dreaded greaser
