This subject is all over the media last couple days. With mid term elections coming up, sounds like Brandon might do an executive order to forgive $10k of student loans to buy votes.
What a slap in the face to all that paid for their educations, paid back their loans, etc.

Can Biden really forgive the student loans? It seems that that would have to come from Congress not the president. The price of this will be paid by our children. Some of the best comments on student loans and the college degree pushers are from Mike Rowe. youtu.be/p8Lk1KwWEMo

It takes a couple years for the supreme court to rule. Free two years to lie, cheat and steal.

Do I think it's fair to do this? No, I don't. But would I be glad to get it if I owed the money? Yep...

I didn't co-sign any loans for any one. So how do they figure I own any one else's debts.
It is flat out theft.

I think it's a load of crap for the purpose of nothing else but to buy votes and appease the likes of AOC.
My wife and I have been encouraging our daughters to chose majors and schools that, upon graduating, they will be qualified to apply for a very particular job. Like nursing, pharmacy, etc. They will not, on my dime, go to someplace like IU and come back with a major in history and minor in "math." There are schools that now offer accelerated programs that don't require students to take totally irrelevant electives. If one of the girls decides to major in say nursing, I don't want to pay for history and European literature classes.
I could go on forever about this...

Yep…. Two wrongs don’t make a right! My kids took AP courses in high school to earn quite a few college credits. They cobbled together enough grants and scholarship money (and with a small amount of money from their 529 accounts that we contributed to over the years) both graduated debt free. Did they get to go away to school to pull that off? No, they both attended a local IU satellite school and lived @ home. Like I said before, I don't like the idea of the government expecting taxpayers to forgive $10,000 in loans. I don't think it's fair and my kids did what it took to not be in debt forever. But, I'm also a realist and like it or not, if the $10K loan forgiveness is passed, I seriously doubt very few people are going to turn that down. And rolling your eyes and shaking your head and complaining about it isn't going to change a thing...

I did the 5-year CO-OP option. This way I was able to earn enough co-oping and part-time work to pay for my college degree BSEE. My three sons went through college and 2nd oldest had a 10K loan. I think most of that so he could stay on campus. Oldest stayed home and commuted with no loan. Followed my route. My youngest did technical college (2 years) and also no more than 10K. So 20k total.

I say do what one thinks is right that’s “Your”choice….. BTW ….. not everyone is allowed to “participate”….

I forgot to mention that my 2nd turned down 1 one-year 100k scholarship for University of Dayton. One year at UD was around 60K including room and board for BSEE degree. The next three would have cost him close to $200k. He was smart and turned it down and went to University of Cincinnati and did the CO-OP program.

I'm not a realist?
Let's see how many people turn down $10K in loan forgiveness (if it passes)? I'll bet it's very few.
Like it or not, that's reality!

Right now if your paying for college your doing it wrong. Our little school gave away $825000 in monies for the kids to continue their education. In both college and trades. That isn’t included what the kids applied for themselves in other avenues. My daughter will enter college as a Junior after she graduates. Didn’t pay a dime for any college credits. All available through our local school.
