Hpr not allowed on big oaks. Cowboy guns, shotguns, and smoke poles are the extent of things that go bang. So what caliber are cowboy guns? 3030, 3006? Those aren’t hard to find

Yup. I have used my 358 wssm there several times. Public land legal Rifles go by ammo size not necessary calibers. PUBLIC AND PRIVATE LAND:Bullet diameter: .357” minimum Casing length: 1.16–1.8”• full metal jacketed bullets are illegal PRIVATE LAND ONLY:Bullet diameter: .243” (6 mm) minimum Casing length: 1.16-3”• a hunter must not possess more than 10 of these cartridges while hunting deer • full metal jacketed bullets are illegal

Those aren’t hard to find Typically the public land protocol and intended original idea of 357mag, 44mag, 45 Colt, etc. Still very effective in the right environment of short-med ranges.

The pro PCR guys were considered “John Wayne” wannabes. I identified more with Chuck Conners. 😉 m.youtube.com/watch?v=8fMN8a3ZRUY

As I sat in the committee meeting when this issue came up, you are allowed 10 rounds in the field. They can all be in the gun or in your pocket. Doesn't matter. And this only applies to the HPR's not any handgun you might carry. If you have a .357 levergun it can have 10 rounds and your pistol could legally have 6 rounds. the intent was to prevent using 30 rounds in an AR or AK to kill a deer.

I thought a .357 Rifle was considered a PCR not an HPR!

I have a Ruger american in 308 and I love it. So I think I’m going to get the ruger american ranch rifle in 350 legend. I’ve got a 2-7 Vortex scope that would sit nicely on top

How many rounds come in a typical box of ammo? When I buy usually 20 or 25. It is silly that you can't just throw a box in your backpack and go. Agreed, this is a dumb reg.

I’m not sure how often guys go out in woods with an AR and dump 30 rounds into Bambi. But it’s like we said in the Army, the reason for the rule is because SOMEONE has done it and ruined it for everyone else.

Is there a regulation on mag capacity during the firearms season?

Is there a regulation on mag capacity during the firearms season? Not on mag capacity, just total round count of 10.

I also have a Ruger American in .308 and I have a Savage Axis in .350 Legend. I'm a Ruger guy, but I will say the Savage shoots great and is much less expensive.
