Hurricane Kay should bring a little relief to S. California.

I just finished cutting the grass around my garden pond and just realized after 25 years this is the 1st time I didn't need to added water for the creek-filter pump to run. Only two time it went 2 weeks without rain.

Just finished the last of our firewood pile. I decided to split one more trailer load to make sure we were good. Calling for more snow and colder than normal, so want to be ready. Getting to the end of the chore list, so will be hunting SOON! I got about 120 gal of veggie oil for the garage heater. My buddy has over 4k gallon on hand, so will never run out of that.

Getting desperately dry here. The yards in my neighborhood that are not irrigated look like mid-July instead of October. The lawn crews at work are down to about 50% out of 450+/- yards. The sod farmer that I buy from is out until he gets some rain. The back-up farms are rationing and almost out as well.

Only thing keeping my food plot alive is heavy dew and not a lot of sun

I had maybe 10%-15% germination in my fall food plot. It's been an all too common occurrence, Fall food plot failures due to lack of rain to germinate the seeds. I'm just going to plant plots in the Spring and make sure that they will last until the Fall. I'm tired of throwing $$ and time away trying to plant them in the Fall.
The only thing that I might do is look for a drill to plant the seeds correctly instead of the "throw, drag and pray" method that I am using now. You don't see farmers planting their crops like that, why should we do food plots like that?
I think I can increase the germination percentage if the seeds were planted at the proper depth.

Since I started running a cultipacker over my broadcasted plots Ive noticed a huge improvement.

We are seriously dry here in metro-Floyd County. The yards that my crews have been grading are like powder and they can't use the skid loaders that don't have full cabs. We were planting trees the other day and our 40hp loaders would not auger a hole. The guys had to get 75hp machines and ended up snapping an auger shaft. Plan C was an excavator. One of the local weather guys said that we have not had .25" in the last 30 days and its been since the first week of September since a .50" rain.
