Just paid for my first suppressor. Got the Dead Air Mask HD 22 for squirrel hunting. I hear the Eform is the way to go, so I guess I’ll know shortly! No more ringing ears for me!

What I was told is that if the E form is used, if there is any mistake on it, it is sent back and you have to fix it. Then the process starts all over again as if you just submitted it. If the paper form is used, then when it's sent back for you to fix you "place in line" is kept and the process doesn't start from square one once they receive the corrected form.
The E Form is supposed to be faster, I hope so. It took me a year to get mine with the paper form, and only after I had my congresswoman inquire with the ATF why it was taking so long. Funny how within 2 weeks of me asking her to inquire that the tax stamps showed up, AND the 2nd one that I submitted a month after the first one showed up first, followed 3 days later by the first one that was submitted.

Now do you know that anytime you are NOT on your property with it you have to have a copy of the tax stamp on your person, AND if you intend to travel out of state with it there is another form that you have to submit to the ATF where you list all the states you intend to use it in? That 2nd form takes around a month or so to get approved, and is only valid for 12 months after approval.

I’ll have to look into that because I’ll probably travel quite a bit with it. I had a friend that had small laminated wallet sized copies of his tax stamp. I was in the Army for almost 10 years and I’m almost dead at this point, so I’m pretty stoked to start running suppressed firearms when hunting. I’m still a little confused about the process, but the shop owner is a good guy and he is pretty familiar with the process. He did talk me into getting the one shot trust though. So I can put my family on it and we can all use it/ them.

I purchased a suppressor when they first became popular and legal around here several years ago. Went through the paperwork, made the expensive purchase, etc.
In hindsight, I would not waste the time and money on another. Not near as quiet as I had hoped for, and it rarely gets used. Makes the gun a bit awkward.

Makes the gun a bit awkward. It all depends on the ammo you shoot, and the efficiency of the can. The ones I bought are titanium, and were rated as the quietest out there at that time. The one I have on the .22 that shoots the Aguilar 60g Sub sonic ammo works great. The bullet hitting whatever makes more noise than the report of the gun firing. I am slowly developing a load for the .30 cal can, I want to use it on a .308 for deer hunting. I have to make double sure that the bullet is stable when it exits the barrel, and that it will reliable expand at the distance that I plan on using the gun to hunt. They aren't like what the movies make them out to be.

They aren't like what the movies make them out to be. In Iraq on my second tour I was assigned an M14 with a leupold scope and it came with this big aluminum looking tube with little fins on it. Turned out to be a gigantic suppressor that actually slipped over the flash hider and clamped on. It wasn’t quiet by any means, but it eliminated the crack that echoed through the mud streets without one. Civilian models however….. not for a 308 obviously, but I’ve seen some subsonic rimfire and a couple 9mm cans that you absolutely did not hear. Only reason I’m buying one now.

The first round coming out of one will be louder than the rest. I believe it's because of the O2 that is in the barrel and can. After the first round the rest are a lot quieter. It's called "first round pop".
I have been wondering if it would still be as loud if one was to put tape over the can and leave a round in the chamber for 24 hours. I can do that test with the .22 LR.

I used the Eform1 for my SBR Build 3 week turn around and you don't have to wait on them to mail back your stamp, it's included in the online approval.
Will be getting a can soon for my HK416, thinking about going up to a 7.62 to cover a 300BLK just for grins.
For legal help, visit thetrustshop.net. They built my trust and have a ton of information and all the forms you need.
