Lack of industry interest.
8 million acres under lease but not being developed.
Years from discovery to production.
Gulf production is not a major part of our supply.
Yes, the government could relax some rules, but that is light years from dropping gas prices.

There is no supply shortage. Look it up. Refineries are running just like always. The companies are charging this because they know we will pay it. If they thought we would pay $10 a gallon, they would charge that. Easy to blame a President, but do you think that the CEO of Chevron sits around thinking about how to make your gas cheaper? Biden has plenty of problems but this is not his fault. Time for an investigation into price fixing and collusion. Where is Teddy Roosevelt when you need him? You’d have a real hard time convincing me Biden didn’t cause a lot of this It doesn’t take two years to ramp up a oil company maybe a few weeks but come on the plants built already and was running all they need to do was refine more oil and I’m not buying into Covid if anything we should of had extra oil nobody drove if anything the demand right now should be less more people retired and more are still working from home Pre Covid we had just as many people working driving vacations living life and yet gas was 1/2 the cost tell me what happened Funny Biden takes office closes our pipeline makes it almost impossible to drill here than dumps tons of our money into Russia pipeline and dumps billions of our tax dollars into wind and solar with no idea or plan how to make it work the man is clueless along with most of his staff and fellow democrats Want more stock market worst 5 months since depression Inflation at record highs Raise interest rates to slow inflation that he caused and that caused housing market to drop last 4 quarters Probably all Covid Now we want to forgive student loans don’t even ask me what I think of that. Isn’t that what you went to college for to make more money than the people who didn’t

Biden for once is fulfilling a campaign promise. He wants to kill fossil fuels, even if it kills our economy at the same time.
He loves high gas prices as they are “an incredible transition”.
Yeah, right..

Well, just keep listening to the oil companies sob stories while you shovel money at them and blame the government.
That's just the way they like it.

Not all. Just mostly. The oil companies are benefitting with record-breaking profits. Biden is getting murdered politically.
Why in the world would we take the side of the oil companies, given their history?
Short memories...

Wonder why it didn’t happen why Trump was in office?
It’s not really a matter of who’s fault it maybe but Biden is in office so he needs to undo the matter…. Un ring the Bell!

But how? He can't make the companies lower prices, explore on their existing leases or put their massive profits into exploration instead of dividends and buybacks.
Recent lease auctions have not generated as much interest as in the past. Like I said, prices are high, the companies are drowning in profits, they don't have to spend a lot on exploration, and somebody else is taking the blame. They are perfectly happy to sit tight.

Did Trump somehow fix corporate greed when he was president and gas was $2 a gallon?

No, but Covid knocked demand way, way, way down. That was the reason for the temporary low prices.

No, but Covid knocked demand way, way, way down. That was the reason for the temporary low prices. And what were the gas and diesel prices during the Trump presidency pre-covid? A whole lot less than they were now. Now post Covid they are higher than they were pre covid so that blows your theory out of the water.

Here is a question. Biden knows this is killing him politically. If he could fix it, why wouldn't he?
It will be interesting to see if the Repubs take the House and Senate, if prices suddenly fall. That will tell you all you need to know.

That will tell you all you need to know. Perhaps he realizes, or has been told by Dr. Jill, that he will not be mentally or physically capable of running again and is merely pushing every progressive idea the libs have on their agenda? I don't think for one minute that the deep state Democrats are letting him run again. I can't say for certain that the Republicans taking over Congress will immediately improve the economy, but I pray that it will be the immediate end of debating what the definition of a woman is and all of the other idiotic social issues the Democrats are pandering to.
