I think you are right. I have already cancelled two of my long distance fishing trips. That sucks. We dont have anything major planned distance wise, but hope to get out locally a fair number of times when fishies are biting. Luckily, the gravel pits are just a few miles from home.

I have to go to WVa and to Va for 2 consultation on ponds the first week in April. The fuel alone will be over $400 for the trip at today's prices. Who knows what it will cost then? I talked to a guy that delivers travel trailers, etc. today. He said his pay (he drives a PU truck) is $2.10/mile each way. He works for one of the RV hauling places there in the Elkhart/Goshen Indiana area. Curious note on the transporter. Any idea on his average mpg? Also, can he make a decent living? I would think he’d have to be “turnin’ to earnin’” a good bit. And then there’s payments, taxes, maintenance etc. I’ve wondered this as I see a bunch of them in my own travels. Lol, I asked some questions as we both were getting our trucks worked on. He drives a Rem Dually, 3500, 4:10 gears. He said it all depends on how heavy the load is, and what the wind resistance is. He said he specializes in towing heavy loads (had oversize signs on front and orange flags on the front bumper) and got as bad as 8 mpg but usually averaged around 10 when he's maxed out. He said he can tow up to 34,100# with the way the truck is set up. I asked him if he heard of Gear Vendors and he was surprised that I asked. He said not many people know about them and that they are a PITA due to their recommended 5K oil change interval. He said he runs one, uses synthetic oil in it and stretches the oil change interval to 10K. He said that if he goes out West or SE through the mountains the GV OD helps out tremendously because it can turn his 6 speed into a 12 speed (you can split gears). He said that if he's running empty it bumps his mileage to 21-22 mpg depending on the wind. Yeah, he puts you or I to shame, he said he runs 80-90K per year. He said he swapped fuel tanks to a 60g Titan, added a 30 gal where the spare tire goes (spare is mounted on the trailer) and had a 110 gallon tank in the bed. He said it really helps when going through states that have a low fuel price, but he also said he hates now to fill it. I can imagine!!! He said he runs the trucks for around 5 years and then gets a new one.

This issue is multifaceted but really not that complex. When the government gives away/spends money like there's no tomorrow, shuts down supply chains, puts restrictions on commerce, etc., and then companies such as McDonald's raise their hourly wages to $16/ hour and offer other benefits, the dollar loses value and therefore, products and goods go up in price. It's more so that the dollar has been devalued to the point that it takes a lot more money to buy the same things that really have the same value as they always have.

Not trying to sound like a conspiracy nutter but....
The government at the start of the Ukraine war said food shortages and price hikes are coming.
Obviously a lot of this has to do with mismanagement from the admin and also shortages from the war torn region etc.
But I have a feeling all of these processing plant fires, bird flu in domestic poultry, warehouse fires, etc, are all planned.
Not saying it's our government but I would not be surprised if it's Russia or China. It would be a cheap and fairly easy way to hurt the US financially and physically.
And I believe that the reason the government warned us is partly because they know this is coming / happening and there isn't a good way to stop it. Without posting national guard at every facility and causing panic.
Forgive errors, typed on phone.

At some point you are just dumb or have your head in the sand. And, unfortunately, a bunch of us are one or both. That is how this administration is getting away with these things.

If Biden could do something about the problems wouldn't he do it? I mean knowing that if the problems persist Democrats will be hurt?
Presidents get too much blame (or credit). It's the corporations and ultra-wealthy that steer the ship.

Gas prices will keep rising. Biden and the democrats are all trying to gas us out of life until everyone ditches the gasoline vehicles and starts buying electric.

Electric cars don’t charge themselves. The electrical grid can’t keep up now.. I saw a story on the news that reported the local charging stations were backed up and people were waiting 45 minutes to charge their cars. And this is happening with supposedly less than 1% of the total vehicles on the road being electric nationwide.

Yes, the Biden administration does shoulder the blame for gas prices. The first thing he did as President was to cancel the Keystone pipeline. He continues to make it nearly impossible to efficiently drill for oil in the US. All one has to do is listen to comments from the energy idiot Granholm if you have any doubts about the push for electric cars. How many people can afford and electric car? How many houses have the electrical capacity for a car charger? How are those who live in apartment communities going to charge a car? How are college students going to charge a car? We go to Alabama for vacation. Where do we stop every 275 miles to charge and what do we do while waiting for the car to charge? If you want an electric car and it fits your needs and budget, have at it. But, liberals and celebrities constantly shaming everyone is getting old.

Electric cars don’t charge themselves. The electrical grid can’t keep up now.. Hard to believe somebody cant figure out how to do that. Dont tell me they can send a man to the moon, transplant organs, listen in on phone conversations, etc, but cant make an electric car self generating. We have been talking about this at work for years. I dont care if you have to run an alternator at each wheel, make something happen! That would be a game changer!

On the last fish run, the diesel pumps topped out at $125. I had to shut the pump off, shove the CC in the pump again and start it a 2nd time to complete the fill up and I have a 30 gallon tank on the truck....... Not pretty. If it gets much higher I will have to start changing a fuel surcharge to deliver fish. This trip I have over $900 out of pocket just for diesel fuel.
