I'm an old school Charcoal/Wood guy, heck I even hand built an 8.5' tall Neopolitan Pizza oven that I fired EVERY Weekend (lost w/house in divorce). I've been intrigued, to say the least, with the pellet grill. Not knowing enough or confident enough that they're a fit for me, I wasn't about to drop Coin on a Traeger or Memphis. Menards has this grill on clearance with a $100 rebate, so I took a chance. Boy I'm surprised. I smoked a Pork Shoulder this weekend and grilled Salmon last night. 700 Sq In, BIG hopper, Dual Meat Thermometers, PID Temp Controls....Lots of nice features (Even comes with a nice cover), and I cannot recommend it enough. IF you're thinking of it, I'm super happy and excited with it. www.menards.com/main/outdoors/grills-outdoor-cooking/pellet-grills/z-grills-reg-706-lux-wood-pellet-grill/zpgd-700d3/p-105478308236-c-1446215532061.htm?tid=7428214316857338274&ipos=9

I have been looking at them myself.
A good friend has a Z Grille and highly recomends it also. He has 4 seasons on his and cant say anything but good.
Looking forward to hearing another person's thoughts on it over time.

Our camper neighbor bought a Z grille last spring to keep at the camper and he really likes it as well. I’ve been looking at pellet grills. Had my chance late fall to get a pit boss Laredo 1000 for $289. Bought it but only had the car and we couldn’t get it in there. Only the fully assembled ones were on clearance then.

I've had a pit boss for a few years now. Love it. Those pellet grills are versatile. Pork shoulders, ribs, salmon....the list goes on! Have fun with it!

Wallah! How many cabbage can go on that thing? Way bigger than my z grill. Z grill also has cold smoker tubes if you want to get into that. My son bought me one for Christmas but haven't tried it out yet.

Cooking grate is 26"x19.5". Says you can make 29 burgers, 6 racks of ribs, or 5 chickens at once. So, quite a bit of cabbage will fit I bet! Cooking first meal now, chicken legs and couple wings from a frozen start!

I really like that this has 2 temp probes. I had one in a leg and one in a wing. The temp controller is pretty neat as well. It displays each probe temp, the desired temp it's set at, and the actual internal box temp. I watched it off and on thru the cooking process and it never varied over 10deg from the set temp, even tho the garage temp was 25deg. I didnt bother running the oil furnace since I had to open the garage doors several times to air out the smoke from the initial burn and seasoning process.

Garage is warmer than outside, and I do normally have the heat on some. I cranked it up today when first getting out here, and it doesnt have any problem. Time will tell.

I like the fact that it's a convection unit, so there shouldn't be any hot or cold spots in it.

I missed the picture, did you get the same unit? 706Lux? I've used mine several times in temps down to single digits, it might burn a bit more pellets but it hasn't had an issue keeping temp. Really liking this so far!!

Got the same unit you posted the link for. Pics are in this thread. Really liking it as well. I was reluctant to get one thinking kinda gimmicky compared to my regular Masterbuilt smoker. But in reality, this thing is a hundred times more versatile. I'd like to say thank you for sharing the link and story of its use. That's what's great about everyone here, helping each other out.

Fantastic, I didn't want to drop big $$ on something I wasn't sure about, much like you. I've been pleasantly surprised and pleased so far! Glad you are, as well!

Well, I bit the bullet and bought one this morning. I already have the $100 rebate form printed. I will pickup at my lunch time on Monday. It's about a 15 minute drive from work. Take my truck and a few straps. Going to offer the Oklahoma Joe Longhorn offset smoker to one of my sons if they want it. If not, I'll sell it.

Just takes a little bit of set up, read and follow the start up directions and initial burn off, and you will be enjoying it in no time. Good luck and congrats!
