Looks like 13 doves. Hopefully one day harvest and not each Friday since season has been open all together. Hey...don't judge me.

Dress for success. Try fishing in camo so fish won't spook. Then try drifting a black fly with a split shot about 18 inches up. Just enough to keep it down but still moving..

Me, my dad and my boy did a charter on Lake Erie yesterday, this was the only walleye that came home with us. Our guide warned us that things may be slow before we travelled over there, he was right. He did a great job and was disappointed with the day, but that’s fishing sometimes. Put in at Euclid OH, just east of Cleveland. Monkey sea charters, capn Andy Durda. Would go back with him again. Fall can get tough on Erie for fishing and the weather can change from great to nasty in hour I’ve had better luck on perch in the fall on Erie but I went out of Port Clinton. Did good on smallmouths around the island in the fall but it’s been sometime ago

Skunked. But boy did we ever have fun trying to catch steelhead after steelhead, and a few chinooks running up Trail Creek this weekend. It was a parade, one and two after another. Found them laying in holes, under logs, circling deep pools. Threw everything we had from Mepps spinners, to spawn, eggs, orange marshmallows, flies, etc. Put it right on their noses time after time. I bet the water is too warm, air temp 80's this weekend. Our DNR buddy who collects info said a 30#+ chinook was taken today, right at one of our regular spots. He looked at our equipment and said, you are using what everybody else is, so just keep trying. And we did. Luke is off school Friday for a flex day, so we will try again then and maybe once over the weekend. But, we hope to put in good time for a deer too. Hopefully he kills one right away, and then back to fishing. 😎 We used eggs had good luck with them fishing the Manistee river we would run 5 or so foot of line out with just enough weight so they would sink and have a small float just big enough to keep the line floating throw up river and let it drift back

When I booked him I asked for a walleye/perch combo trip. He said that the perch bite was terrible, and he wouldn't waste his time or my money trying for them. He said the limit for this part of Lake Erie is down to 10, if that tells you anything.

Tried the river for a chance at early eyes on sauger, wipers or crappie. Caught 1 10" crappie and 1 13" channel. Hooked maybe 16 or 44 rocks. Lost count but got good at my knot tying

We are giving it one more go for trout/salmon in Trail Creek this morning. Then it's off to hunting season.

Nothing at Trail Creek this morning. Only seen 3 fish total at all our spots. Bummer.
We gave it one last try in the afternoon. But we headed over to the Twin Branch Dam in Mishawaka. Lots of guys fishing, and one guy had two steelhead. Did see several surface, so a few more fish there at least. Maybe, just maybe, we will return for more punishment.

Lets see, I caught 130 Smallmouth, 40# of 5"-7" Copper Nose Bluegills 20 8"-10" Yellow Perch and 300 5"-8" Walleye the other day. LOL
Everything is spoken for except for 250 of the Walleye.

I got some good help from Luke today, so the reward is we are back at Twin Branch now fishing. Saw two steelhead caught so far, so hopefully they are biting today for us too. Got 2 rods out with spawn, one with a night crawler, and Luke is casting. Come on!!!
I wouldnt want to be in a tree with the wind back at our place today, so this will do just fine. We are down low here and protected from the wind up top. Not a bad day!

Nothing for us. Nothing after the 2 caught right on the wall. But, a boat pulled up with 3 guys, and they hauled in 3 steelhead in about an hour! Throwing orange Oslo inline spinners (same thing as Mepps) and one on spawn on the bottom, working a pull up and drop back technique. This is easier fishing, rod holders on the rail, sidewalk, out of wind, etc, than Trail Creek is, so we will keep trying a few more times until hunting gets serious. GOAL... I just want to get this kid a fish!

I have a bunch of those spinners that I'd use when fishing by the dam there.

We made our final voyage on the boat for the season. Or at least we assume it will be. May not winterize just yet. Beautiful weather but, we (Daphne) only caught one white crappie.

We made our final voyage on the boat for the season. Or at least we assume it will be. May not winterize just yet. Beautiful weather but, we (Daphne) only caught one white crappie. Good deal. Still a few nice days left to enjoy. We put our boat up this past weekend. I've had enough fishing for the year, Luke doesnt think so tho. Lol. Next year we are getting back to the inland lake fishing gig, and turning away from Lake Michigan that we failed so sadly at this year. We really paid our dues!!! We will still fish a few times in the creeks and rivers, but nothing like we did this season!
