The Natural Resources Commission (NRC) has given preliminary adoption to a number of rule changes that govern activities on Indiana DNR properties. Individuals are welcome to submit comments by Friday, Dec. 10. A virtual public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 9 from 5-6 p.m. ET. Find out how to access the hearing and view the proposed changes on our website: www.in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/rule-regulation-changes

Wonder if the magnet license will be needed on Monroe as it’s a corps of engineer property and not dnr. Lots of people magnet fish it, including myself and my family.

I would lean towards yes. If my thinking is correct, the corps only owns tha dam and adjacent areas but the DNR handles the wildlife type regulations even on those grounds.

I’ve always been a little confused on that. You can’t carry on the water because it falls under corps property, but dnr/COs patrol and write the tickets. Guess I’ll just wait and see how the actual rule reads once it’s confirmed and published.

So when magnet fishing you may not be allowed to keep what is found and trash items don’t go back in water…. Guess I am reading that correctly.

I've never heard you can't carry on the water, and if that's correct, I've been in violation every single time.

Seems I have been in violation every time. The interesting thing is the ICOs and property personnel I've talked to while there have never said a word.

Yeah, Morrison in ask a CO thread also confirmed it’s illegal to carry on the water.

I saw that. Now I wonder why. Are they claiming, like in National Wildlife Refuges, that once you cross the fence you are no longer in Indiana.

The Army Corps rule is Nation wide and been that way for some time.I believe you can get permission to carry but you must ask higher ups Army Corps first! Seems to be a don’t ask don’t tell type of law IMO

But we can carry in National Parks…unless Brandon has changed that.. But we can't carry on military property. Just another reason to fight my county about letting the corp do the old reservoir project.
