I killed one good buck over a decoy. I was on a wooded slope facing a field. Decoy just inside woods, to be visible from field. I had a sock tek screwed on as a tail with doe in heat on it. I turned to look around and the buck was standing 30yds away, like he came out of the clouds, and was glued to it. POW, game over.
Other than that one, about every deer has HATED a decoy. Especially does! They will root it out, stomp and blow. So I quit using it.
It works on all hunting shows. Their buck to doe ratio is probably super, so more power to them.
There is nothing more heart stopping than when you look away, and then see your decoy, thinking it's a real deer. Lol

I killed one buck over a decoy. I've had others come in but, younger and not was I was looking for.
That being said, a few years back I been chasing a buck I called "The big 9". Several close encounters. Finally, one afternoon, I thought I had him. He was with a few does and bumping them around. The lead for crosses the fence where I had hoped and was crossing the 134 yard gap between the thicket and my box blind. Had they continued the course, I would have had a 30 yard shot. The lead for decided she didn't like my Boss Buck and veered a little left, taking the other two doe and The big 9 with her.
You win some, you lose some.

Sweet.. they def have there problems.. they are bulky and loud to setup is one I don’t like about it but I think if used the right way they can work really good on a mature buck… I agree the doe don’t like them but If your keep it scent free and use in an open field it can make a big difference… that buck in the video came in stiff legged and mad as hornet , pretty fun to watch

Yep another tool in the box to use on these rascals.

Each year, I would skin out a tail and hang it off the back of my decoy. Added a little realism anyhow.

A little video I took about 6 years ago of a small buck that came into my Boss Buck. He was fun to watch. Got a little stiff legged and bristoled out some. He ultimately changed his mind and never gave it a big challenge. youtu.be/_z9m0WBbZ2g
