The problem for me lies not in the idea that the slaves deserved something for the treatment they suffered, but in thinking their offspring a few generations later do. Who is going to determine who actually is a descendant of slaves or will ot simply be the ethnic choice a person has made to identify by? IF it is ethnicity then would that be discriminatory towards all yhe Irish slaves that were in this country?
Reparations were passed when slavery was ended (40 acres and a mule) but the then Democrat President vetoed it.
