Yes I know someone that got selected…He is waiting on email to know the area but he was selected.
More information
* Game Bird Area (GBA) pheasant hunts have been broken out into two separate online draws for 2021. The Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW) has made this change to allow people to apply to GBA pheasant hunts closer to the actual hunt dates. By making this change, DFW hopes to improve no-show rates (the rate at which people who apply for a hunt and get drawn and do not show up for their hunt) of GBA pheasant hunts.

If you get the opportunity to go you should give it a try, I love deer hunting but this is a fun hunt.

I know a fella that has been selected 3 times in the last 10 years or so. Seems like I should brown nose that guy......

Not selected again this year. I’m sure glad they broke this into two drawings. Now my entry can be rejected twice a year instead of one. It blows my mind that some people can be selected multiple times in so few years. I have been putting in for this hunt for over 35 years back to the days of mail in entry. Never once have I been selected. I think it’s time for Indiana to finally do a points system on all draw hunts. For those people who do not show up on the days they were selected, maybe they should sit out of the drawing for a couple years.

I hear that or should I say I read that... I have been trying for a few years myself and never been drawn. I have been lucky enough to be invited on 2 of these hunts. Both times we saw birds. I hunted with ddragon and his daughter and we did real well. Should be a thread in here on that....

WOW! After years of trying I finally got selected! Amazing. Haven't received the email with the hunt location yet. So, now what?
Apparently the rules say a selected hunter can bring two (2) buddies along. I have a feeling that anyone I'd invite will have to work that day and therefore is unavailable. Looks like it will be just me and my GSP. Hopefully it's not raining that day.

I understand having guys that you really like to hunt with but if you've got somebody that you can put up with then you'll do a lot better because the birds won't get away from you. This habitat is really well done lots of food lots of cover. Walk the corn stubble and the buck brush first and then go for the Briar patches or cattails. You'll find birds in easy stuff but you'll find more birds in the thick nasty stuff.

Fortunately, I spent my youth hunting wild pheasants without a dog, many times by myself in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New York back when those places had good populations of birds. In effect, I learned the hard way. Now that I have an excellent GSP, I'm pretty confident I can go into a new place and find some action. Pheasants are one of those species of game that you shoot on the first day of the season and hunt every day thereafter!

With a good dog, and you hunt into the wind, the dog will smell the birds easily and before you bump them. Night and day difference hunting with a trained dog and with no dog. It's actually worse hunting with an untrained dog than no dog, they get to running and blowing birds out all over the place.

Does anybody remember the possible hunt days that were drawn for? Wasn't it like every other day hunt or so?
