Five hours scout/hunting Mississinewa. No deer, one set of fresh rubs in a spot that’ll be impossible to hunt, 3.6 miles of walking.

Laynes first sit at 18 months ! Well, the rain was supposed to stop 🤣 now it is supposed to not stop lol oh well. We tried to get in here right before the rain stopped, and I thought we had lol we’re in a big comfy ground blind , surrounded by sunny d, Yoo-hoo, lunchables , and glow sticks. He , is knocked out on my lap lol we’re dry and the temp is good! I figured we were coming out for an hour and a half play time and snacks, but I’m getting a much needed cuddle time. No matter what , the hunt is already successful. If you have negative comments about his age and being out here , please pass this post on by. That picture of you two is precious. Nothing better than father son bonding. Hopefully a long time from now the tables are turned.

Nobody from this site is gonna give you any grief! Most will be pretty happy you getting that youngster some fresh air! I have a pic where my boy was around that age. We are out in the garage bundled up in 15 degrees when I killed a huge doe in over 2 feet of lake effect snow. My wife took a pic to remember me if I croaked doing that again after dragging her over a mile since the deer cart wouldnt go thru it. Lol.

Sun out and sweating next minute downpour and chilled ahh this is the life. I see some Dr. Stirrup add ons to that sweetheart! I have those as well, and the 2 foot stirrup on my M380. It surrounds the broadhead, and the bow stands up on end with it, so you dont have to lay it down when walking away.

Yes I have some Dr. stirrup add-ons. I don’t believe I have anything that is completely original to include my ex-wife.

Got out Saturday morning for a short hunt (about 3.5 hours). Went in in the dark having not scouted this area yet this year. This spot is a little oak hill, about 3 acres with bedding on 3 sides and last year, it had a huge scrape right in the middle of the oaks. Figured I'd give it a shot. As the sun was coming up, I spot a big scrape about 25 yards from me. Didn't see any deer, but when I had to go, I checked that scrape... It was still wet with sign!!!! I think I'll be waiting for the right set up and going in there again before too long. I'll post a pic below.

Here’s a pic of that scrape. Notice the wet spot on the left side. Boy, it smelled strong. That deer must have been in there no more than an hour before I was. And here’s a pic from my saddle.

Stalked a doe from 150 yards out last night. Got a shot at 30 yards. She took a step right as I released the arrow. Shot sounded good when it hit, but looked back. Arrow had streaky blood, but had no smell of guts. Gave her an hour and a half. Came back and tracked minimal blood for 150 yards and then the blood stopped. Did a grid search to look for the body for over an hour. No dice. Very frustrating. Only the third deer I've ever hit and lost. Hopefully she's still running around out there. Archery a beautiful and frustrating thing.

I went to my property in Perry county and hunted the last hour last evening. No deer but 12 turkeys with in 10 yards. Beautiful and graceful birds. Lots of purring and clucking.
