Whats the good' bad and ugly on a 2506. Other than there is a ammo shortage going on right now.

My great uncle used one for years and years for groundhogs. I have no idea where that rifle ended up after he passed away.
The guy that used to own the gun shop that I worked at years ago used a 25-06 on deer out west before his health declined to where he couldn't hunt anymore.

Unfortunately it’s a .25 cal.
I never did like the bullet selection in the .25 cal arena. Give me the .24 or the .26 any day over the .25 Bullet selection is better in each of those

Like was said, if you are looking for a long distance bullet, there are few choices. The bullet selection is a bit lacking, but I feel it is a round than has more oomph than a .243 for instance.
I have used a .257 Weatherby for a while and went to Barnes bullets where I could have a bullet impact on a deer at less than 150 yds. I was able to buy some of the Wildcat Bullets (no longer in production) that are 130 grain in .25 caliber.
I am currently going to be dialing in my cousins 25-06 Sendero for him when it cools down a bit. Making 2 loads for him. One for coyotes and one for deer. He lives out West, so he has opportunities to shoot further than we do here in Indiana.

At a good price is the rifle worth having? Its not something that I couldn't live without. Probably end up a coyote/play toy.

Kinda depends on what you consider a good price and what kind of rifle it is.
It's a real fast mover, flat shooting cartridge, pretty much an ideal deer caliber. I shoot a .257 Weatherby and don't see any drawbacks to the .25 cal so far.
Unless you're just leaving them lay, I'd go to a .22 cal for coyotes, betting a .25 will tear them up.

Agreed, what is a "good price"? $20? $100? I'd pay different $$ for a Sendero vs. a Patriot.
For coyotes, use a monolithic bullet so the exit hole isn't that big, or download to slower velocities. Wind moves the bullets around a bit, but you can shoot out a long ways. I took one Pronghorn out West at 700 yds with the .257 Wby. (handloads)

Went ahead and bought the rifle. Needs a scope upgrade. But it does shoot well now. Might make a nice flat shooting deer gun. Or coyote gun.
