I can't seem to get the knot or line tight enough on the spool. I was able to wind some on the reel but, when I try casting, the spool just turns and no line is coming in. It's almost like the spool on the reel is too slick to get the braid to bite. Any suggestions? Tips or tricks?

Wrap some black electrical tape around the spool first. The braided line will bite into it and not spin. Unless your spool has holes it in then just run the braid through the holes and tie off.

Sorry just read your reel type and I do not think they have holes so the tape is the way to go.

you can also start with some cheap mono backing first then tie on the braid. This will stop the spin.

^^^ This is the route I'd go.

Having ran out of electrical tape, I ended up going with about 10 yards of mono. Held up great. Thanks for the advice.
