I saw the thread about woodmasters African hunt so thought I would post a short video(about 5min.), for your entertainment, of my brother and his wife who just returned from Zimbabwe. If the link doesn't work you can go to youtube, type in rustic hunter productions and look for title----buffalo,crocodile, bush buck. make sure you have your sound on so you can hear the shots.

Pretty cool video. Sure are some tough critters. Amazingly tough. They tracked the buffalo for a day and 1/2. he was shot with a 400 grain swift amax bullet(gun is a 404 Jeffries) and it deflected off of his sternum into the shoulder instead of penetrating the chest cavity. The PH got a 458 into him in the morning on the second day(this bullet passed through the right rump and lodged in the left shoulder.(Tom has both bullets. They knew he had to have a pretty severe gut ache and they tracked him to the water, Zambesi river, in the afternoon. This area where Tom was hunting, by the way, is where most of the great ivory hunters,zelous, capstick, bell etc. spent a lot of their time. |
