I spent yesterday shooting at 30 yards and I wasn't thrilled with what was going on. Today, I started back at 20 yards, took my time and made the proper adjustments. Here is my 3 shot group at 40 yards:

Here is my 3 shot group at 40 yards: Excals are consistent. Word of experience here... Do NOT shoot a group at same bullseye again. π Not to be funny, or maybe you want a Robinhood, BUT, if you nick a nock or arrow shaft, your next shot with it could be a disaster from a dry fire.

I always shoot my crossbow from some sort of a rest, and I agree with deadeer, never shoot at the same bullseye twice if there is an arrow in it, not even at 50 yds. I have illuminated nocks on all the arrows on top of it.

Just trying to save you from a headache, heartache, or accident! Excals are tough and some will survive a dry fire, but it's pretty breath taking. π dont ask π€
Looks like your doing great! Do not worry about the noise to 40yds. I am on the Excal forum and there are guys that shoot all kinds of game, including squirrels. So just think, if a squirrel doesnt jump the string, no problem on deer. They say the deer only reacts after the arrow is stuck in the ground after going thru it. I have taken a couple with my Excals. Never an issue.

What group I would be shooting my own bolts if I did that. I shot the 1" label on these drink bottles three times in a row from 40 yds.
