How far will you shoot your crossbow this hunting season? I am hoping to get comfortable at 40 yards+. After what I saw tonight with my first range session, it shouldn't be terribly difficult.

I like to keep my shots within 40 to 45 yards.

40 yards at a stationary, unalert and good angled deer.

I practice to 50 yards, but when hunting it's 40 yards. I only have one stand that I can get a clear shot at 40 yards.

I shot a doe a 45 a couple of years ago, and still went completely through. Since then I practice at 60 and cap at 50. I will say that my stand has a gun rest so I have a braced shot. Off hand 40 is max . Hate inhuman hits

Off hand 40 is max . Hate inhuman hits Since none in our group uses a bow anymore, all our stands have shooting rails. I wouldnt hunt without one. Just talking with a guy at work about this. He thinks you should always sight in your gun the way you hunt. Sounds good right? So he sights in off hand because that's how he hunts! He thinks it's stupid to use a rest because that's not hunting. I laugh and say whats not "hunting" is him wounding deer every season. His new thing is no matter what, he shoots "at" a deer 2-3 times every time he shoots at one. Probably not alone either in his thinking. I would at least want my gun sighted in correctly. Good grief!

I get it that, my dad was like that too. I always told him sight it in braced but practice in off head.

If you’re not shooting at 100 plus yards are you really using it at its full potential?

I can walk mine out to 85 yds at the range but I would never attempt a shot like that on any animal. I would only shoot a deer from 40 to 45 yds.
