Rough morning. Shot at 5, missed 2, 1 not recovered. Rushed a couple shots probably due to being miserable hot lol. Won't go again till it cools down some. Mark 2 up for team 5

Add 4 for Team 1. #5 fell behind the tree it was in into waist-deep weeds. I trampled the area down looking for 40 minutes and never found it. Have I ever said being colorblind bites? Solid rest and only about 30 yards. I'm sure by the way it fell that it was dead on the way down. Just couldn't find it. Personal total is 15.

Hope you enjoy my company. Too bad it's only 5 hours away. Lol. Great job!!! Our squirrel population is nowhere near what yours is. Yes we have them, but it's rare to even see 4 or 5 anywhere I hunt.

Definitely got them down here! There was a limit in the first tree alone. Got 2 and the rest scattered. 4 in the next tree that was being cut and got 2 of those.

4 more for Team 1. My daughter finally decided it was time for her first squirrel hunt. We took our 870 20 gauges. She missed her first two and I batted cleanup. On her 3rd attempt she finally got her first (and only) squirrel. She missed the last squirrel we saw because it moved around to the other side of the tree as she was breaking the shot. I ended up getting it, too. She moves through the woods very well; we just need to work on her not recoiling before the shotgun goes off. We made a trip to the shooting range where I could watch her shoot at a stationary target. She yanks the whole gun back and up like it is recoiling as she is breaking the shot. I made her sit down and shoot off of a rest and she was dead center with her pattern. She ended up with one and I got 4. In all the excitement, I did not take a pic of my 4. Personal total is now 19.

Congrats to her on her first squirrel. If she takes after dad there won’t be a squirrel left around.

Take her to the range, single load the gun for her and have her shoot it. Don't load it every time you hand it to her, so when she pulls the trigger there will be no bang and she can see what she is doing. She is wearing hearing protection, isn't she? Just to be safe, I'd have her wear ear plugs (inserted correctly) AND ear muffs. It might be the noise and not the recoil that is bothering her. Take her shooting and have her shoot a .22. You don't want her getting into a bad habit of yanking the trigger.

Score one more for Team #1 LCB. Got to the woods this am. Hadn't been there 5 minutes, and saw one thrashing around up in the top of a pignut hickory. One shot, straight down! But went and looked for him 3 times in 2hrs., and couldn't find him in the weeds. Thinking he had crawled off wounded, I'm giving myself a cussing. I'm headed for the truck, and passed the tree one last time, and thought I'd give it one last quick look. Walked in a different direction, passed the tree, and there laid the lil booger about 4 ft. from the base of the tree. He had landed a lot closer to the base, than I thought. Oh well, I'd rather be lucky than good, any day. Brings my personal total up to a whoppin' 3 limb chickens!

Ps barking with one of those lil squirrel bellow barkers is a great way to get em stopped for a clean shot I'll have to try that with mine,I quit bringing it with me years ago because I never had any luck with it calling in fox squirrel, only grays when I lived in Ky. I've only seen grays up here 1 season, last year and only a couple of them.

Please add 1 to team 6. Surprised by the relatively low activity level this morning. Missed one and killed one. The squirrels I did see were really moving around from treetop to treetop and wouldnt hold still. I probably dont need to tell you how aggravating that can be!

Lot of times makes them freeze in place. Sometimes they'll even come down the tree to bark at you
