What’s going on? The last week or so I’ve been seeing tons of geese, several 20-30+/- bird flying over. There’s a field nearby that has 2 small ponds, the owners have domestic white geese and the last several days there have been Canada’s mixed in with them. I mean 70-80 plus Canada’s. Not normal this time of year. Are they getting a head start and trying to beat the hunting season? Lol Just last night sitting in my John boat on my pond I had 3 flocks fly over. First had 18 birds second had 25-30 and last had around 20ish

They just got their primary flight feathers back after molting the past few weeks.

They just got their primary flight feathers back after molting the past few weeks. Agreed, so they are probably looking for new untouched feeding areas.

It's definitely August, the geese started landing in the grass field next door to me last week. No clue what type of grass they have and mow every other week, but these birds are here year after year for about 6 weeks starting almost August first.
