Like it or not, crossbows are the fastest growing segment of archery equipment and are used in most states during the archery seasons.
If P&Y continues to deny harvests from crossbow hunters, they are only going to deny themselves the new members that they need to stay relevant.

For sure have a separate book for x-bow. I would consider a book for primitive also. I'm going to try my compound but I might be with the crossbow some just getting arthritis sucks

I have taken a bear here in CO that is right on the edge of the book but why would I care? The ONLY reason would be if an animal I took was big enough to make me some $$$$$.

I agree with Freedom Hunter.
I have a deer that qualifies for the Indiana muzzleloading book here in Indiana but never bothered to send the paperwork in.

I typically have more important things to worry about on any given day.

The P & Y bent a little but not much. They still dont want crossbows in "their season", especially during the "rut".
On the subject of "record keeping"..still says we should separate seasons, so what portion of the archery season will they give up to allow crossbows in a "separate season"?
IMO -There will be a ton of new kills made by crossbowers and that "using our measurers" sounds like P and Y wants a piece of that crossbow record pie without including the crossbow kills on their book. .
Although I have about 9 or 10 critters who would make one book or another I only put one in. That was way back when the county CO asked me to enter a buck in the HRB. A 154" ten pointer.
To me these record keeping books have pretty well outlived their usefulness. Now its pretty well chest thumping and in some cases a money maker for the hunter if the critter is world record caliber.
They all say "it is to honor the animal". I once asked a keeper of a record book if that is true why list the hunter's names? He said, "Why we couldn't sell any books then". Can we all say its about dollar$?

If they accept any animal that has been fed genetically crafted food and/or minerals there is no reason not to accept animals taken with a crossbow.
Do they have any rules against the range finding bow scopes that automatically adjust your pin for shots out to 100 yards?

No, they don't accept critters taken with electronic sights or range finding sights. As far as food, if the animal fed in a modern field they would have to accept GMO fed trophies!
