One of the main reasons I took the PT job at Scheels was to get the employee discount and pro deals. So far I bought a new gun safe and a Franchi Affinity. I have been going back and forth about new rifles up to this point. My current hunting rifle is a Savage 110 I got used. It shoots well but 3 things bother me about it....1) I hate the internal magazine 2) No brake and my surgically repaired shoulder just can't take much shooting from it and 3) the cheap stock with a steep pistol grip angle. My top three contenders (all of which I have personal excellent accuracy results with) were the Sako S20 Precision in 300 WM, the Seekins Precision in 300WM and the eventual winner......The Tikka T3 Lite Roughtech SS in 300 WM!!! choose.tikka.fi/usa/code/JRTXRBS331R10The factors that led to this were 1) Price.....obviously 2) The nice grippy, textured stock 3) Fluted Stainless barrel and bolt 4) Ability to put a vertical grip on it for less than $20 and 5) The muzzle brake being part of the package. The only bummer is that in order to get the discount I have to order straight from Beretta/Tikka and it will be a little while before I get my hands on it. I am planning on putting the Vortex PST Gen II I won earlier this year on top.

Congrats! I have looked into these and have been drooling all over myself. They put a lot of upgrades to fix the few quirks a lot of guys asked for. Our local Cabelas have them for $999 or $1,049, iirc.
That's just more than I can spend on another deer gun that I already have plenty of. Some day all the stars will align, or I will sell off a few and get one. So looking forward to living the dream thru your good review. Lol

Lol We sell the non-stainless Roughtech for $999 so I expect retail on the SS to be 50-100 more based on the other Tikka models. The discount I get makes it a bargain to me. Since I won the scope earlier this year, after buying a rail and good rings I should still be at less than $1000 total for the setup.

Dang!!! Just got off the phone with the Tikka rep and due to all of the current lines being bought as quick they can be made they aren't going to ship these guys until SHOT show next year. Now I have to seriously consider the Black/stainless vs the brown/blued along with the wait time. I am considering the B/B and then getting it cerakoted. Decisions, decisions

Decisions, decisions I picked up a Kimber Mountain Ascent Sub Alpine last year. I haven't done much with it except scope it and get the barrel about 1/2 broken in. I DID order a can for it, hopefully it will be here in a month or two. Removable muzzle brake and thread protector comes with it. Mine is .308 Caliber, figured I could use it on private property here for deer and also up in Wisconsin. Here I want to develop a load for subsonic hunting rounds. So far I like it, especially the weight.

When we asked about it they literally said "just not a priority for us, selling too many handguns" Go figure!!! I have glass already (a Vortex PST GEN II FFP MRAD 5x25x50 I won at a long range shoot we did with Vortex), just have to decide on the platform. LB

Further discussions with my rifle manager and gun buyer lead me to believe that it would be at least a year from now before I could see one of the SS models. So I am going to jump on the brown stock-blued and get the receiver and barrel cerakoted in burnt bronze.

The only bad thing about those radial brakes is if you shot them prone watch out for a dirt bath.

Hey, any idea of the status on CZ 527 American rifles? Are they importing any more relatively soon? Do the distributors here have any sort of inventory of them?

Finally got to hit the range with Simo. After seeing which of the 3 types of ammo he liked best this is the pic of the actual zero. The Nosler 180 Ballistic Tips were the clear winner. The 3 leaf clover at the top is a group (1 minute apart), the bottom 2 were me dialing right to zero. This is 100m off a bag. I'm pretty happy, just wish I had more than half a box left. I still have a bit of time to find some more. www.flickr.com/photos/184833351@N03/51443073362/in/dateposted-public/

I hope the next box (when you find it) shoots just as good. If it does, go buy a bunch more as long as it's the same lot number.
