Two of the to many fawns this year. It has been one of best in years. Bedded across the front yard in the neighbors front yard.

Yesterday I took my uncle down to our property to do some brush clearing, tree trimming... and just spend some time outdoors. I didn't realize before we left that my chainsaw needed a new chain, so I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I had planned, but the day turned out great anyway.
We were working in separate areas of our woods and the uncle had an issue with my pole saw so I went to his area to help/ After fixing the pole saw problem I returned to my area to set a new window in my shoot-shack.
I no sooner stepped inside m y shack when I looked out over the hill to see two spotted fawns browsing 60 yards in front of my shack. I watched them for a good 45 minutes and then they wandered off into the brush still browsing. I took the opportunity to run back to my truck and grab a pair of binoculars.
I stepped back in front of my window to find the fawns has returned. They browsed for another 10 minutes or so before bedding down 60 yards away, and in clear view. They laid there long enough that I watched one having trouble keeping it's eyes open. Reminded me of a child fighting nap time. So funny.
Pretty soon momma came wandering into view VERY cautiously. When she got close enough for the fawns to notice, they both jumped up and ran to her wagging their tails just like a puppy. They immediately began suckling and continued for about 10 minutes before mom shook them off and the whole family strode off at a snails pace, still browsing at they went.
It was an incredible sight to watch those fawns without their mother around. It was really special to get to watch the reunion and dinner time for the kids.
I would swear that all three deer saw me clearly while I was in the window of my shack, but seemed to pay no attention to me. I did not make any undue noise, or sudden movements, but all three deer stared straight at me on several occasions. My phone even rang while I was in my shack, just minutes after the fawns had bedded, but seemed not to hear it, or it just didn't concern them. They never moved.
Overall it was another great day in the woods.

I have a good sized soybean field behind my house and this time of the year I can be in the yard piddling around and the deer will hang out within 50-60 yards of me. As long as I respect the distance, they just go on about their business and feed. If I start to walk their way though, they don't bolt, but they move on.
During the hunting season (and these deer aren't even hunted), they are a whole lot more spooky. If I walk out the back door, they move on right then.
